My daughter, son-in-law, and I spent 6 glorious days in Oaxaca, staying at the Hotel Cantera Real. The rooms are spacious, and everything works beautoifully except the wifi which is sporadic. There's a good restaurant on-site where we had breakfast and dinner several times. Unfortunately, the people at the front desk speak very little English so it made it difficult... More

We could walk all over the city from this hotel, even to one of the main cemeteries for "Dia de Muertes" the lower lobby had been transformed into a memorial altar for the former owner. It was decorated with streamers, flowers, elaborate design of colored rice on the floor, a very touching tribute for the Day of the Dead. We... More

The bed and pillows were hard as a rock. There is a floor fan, but you can not open the window because of the noise. the was a terrible smell from the water when we tried to fill the tub. The floor next to the tub was covered with water when you took a shower, which made it very unsafe... More

This hotel has a really cool old classic Mexican structure that you will love. Location is excellent, just 3 blocks away from Santo Domingo square. Clean rooms and friendly staff. The only downside are the towels and beds were a little too hard for my taste. I would stay here again.

We stayed here one night. The price is quite good considering the location, however the Bathroom had a lousy smell, we had a room with a window to the parking lot that is underground so you can imagine how bright our room was :-S...... The room just looks kind of cheap.... but, if you go to Oaxaca you are not... More

My friend and I got an amazing deal on this modern, clean & friendly place via a travel Website, which definitely influenced how we felt about it. If we had paid the typical price, I would have been mildly disappointed, as Hotel Cantera doesn't have the charm, gardens & views of similarly priced hotels. For the rate we did pay,... More

This place is really nice, fairly modern and very clean. The staff is helpful and cheerful. My friend and I have enjoyed coffee and breakfast in their cute little restaurant. However, the Wi-Fi sucks. I don't understand why they would shoot themselves in the foot like that.

I have always stayed in a different neighborhood [hotel] when in Oaxaca and was very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. We had great front desk [Giovanni & Manuel ] people who were very helpful on a daily basis. Nicely located, the walk to the Zocalo was interesting daily, many different streets to walk, which is the whole idea in Oaxaca.... More

I was here with a tour last year for Dia de los Muertos. No a/c which is not a big deal really, but our only window opened to the garage, and if you left it open the exhaust was horrible as well as car noise. When the window was closed, it was stifling. And they had no fans. I asked... More

We stayed 6 nights. The rooms were decent size and very clean. Just check beds first, some can be too firm. The staff were all nice, but very little English. Takes about 10 min. -12 min. to walk to the Zocalo. Free wifi in room.
