Parador San Miguel is my favorite hotel in Oaxaca. We usually stay in a junior suite because we like the extra room. This hotel has so much to offer. It is located one block from the zocalo which makes it handy for shopping. I like the way the hotel is decorated-many of the pieces I have spent a year or... More

The location is perfectly located near the zocalo and main sights of Oaxaca. The service was friendly, professional, and english-only speakers should note that there was always someone available to speak english. The room was immaculate, and cleaned thoroughly every day, including making delightful animals out of hand towels daily (elephants one day, teddy bear another, etc.) and folded objects... More

Room was very clean and I love the artisanal soups they provide. Staff is excellent. Served our purpose of staying for only one night and continuing our travel next morning. Unfortunately there was some construction taking place at the building behind and literally we woke up feeling there were going to poem a hole in the wall... Good thing we... More

The hotel is very quiet during night, it is close to the "Zocalo" so you can have breakfast at "The Portales" , still the hotel restaurant has a nice menu, try "Tlayudas con tasajo" or "Tasajo tacos". at night it´s very quiet, if you go out at night they close the door at 10pm but there is a staff member... The hotel is just as others have said. Clean, great staff, great location, pleasant surrounds. There were birds, mostly natives ones, in small cages. Our room was right by the cardinal and oriole. They both appeared frightened and unsettled. All but one of the cages were quite small and birds could spread their wings, but pretty much had to stay... More

A group of us stayed in this boutique hotel for four nights, starting on March 6th. We liked the location very much, as it is very close to the Zocalo. The rooms were all very clean, nicely decorated, and with all the amenities one might need. The restaurant on site has very good food and reasonably priced. The staff could... More

Hotel is conveniently situated for the Zocalo and the historic surroundings. Large and basically furnished room and walk in shower. Pretty courtyard with birds in cages. Breakfast not included and quite expensive compared with other places.

I was traveling for business and wanted to be close the downtown area. This hotel is walking distance to a main square, great restaurants, and many shops, including a large indoor market. As mentioned in another review Independencia is a busy street so there can be traffic noise, but hey what do you expect downtown. The restaurant in the hotel... More

We stayed two nights in this lovely, small hotel, close to restaurants, shops and attractions. Avenida de Independencia is a busy street, but there are several rooms that are not disturbed by the traffic outside. We got a quiet, big room with a sitting group on the 3rd floor. Nb. no lift. Nice furniture and exquisite decorations, drinking water and... More

I was touring with a group and before staying here we had stayed in one of the Melia hotels in Mixico which was awful. It, therefore, was a real pleasure to stay here. All that you would hope from in an atmospheric small hotel. My room opened on to a communal balcony where there was seating, birds and lots of... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
With a privileged location, 20 minutes from the airport. In the historical downtown area, only a half block from the Central Alameda. The beautiful colonial-style building has three floors with 23 rooms, including four suites.Located on one of the main avenues in the city, the facade had a grand entry door of carved cedar, opening to a lovely porch with a statue of St. Michael the Archangel.A wrought iron gate opens to the hotel vestibule, where walls of ochre, terra-cotta, beige and cream combine with dark green ironwork and green granite columns to provide a dramatic backdrop for the brilliant bougainvillea and geraniums that thrive in the home's central patio. From here you can catch a hint of the spellbinding flavors of our Oaxacan kitchen. In "La Cocina" you can choose a magical dish to your specifications.Small gardens lead to the first level rooms. A majestic green granite stairway crowned with glorious stained glass leads to the second and third levels. On the second level terrace, you could relax or sunbathe accompanied by canaries in a kaleidoscope of multicolored flowers. ... more   less
