The property is beautiful, in what it seems to be an old house. The whole place, room and toilet were clean and in good condition. No complains about that. Price was fair enough, even in a long weekend. It is three blocks from Santo Domingo plaza and church so the location is pretty good. Staff were friendly enough. I would... More

Hello, I read about Casa del Sotano on Tripadvisor, other sites and in guide books and was impressed by the positive reviews. However, my experience there was extremely negative and feel it is important to share it with prospective guests. My husband and I, my daughter and son-in-law, stayed there from December 29th to January 4th. The following describes what... More

I have stayed in Oaxaca several times and found Hotel Casa del Sotano to be a really great place. The location is perfect for walking to all the activities. The street it is on is actually a busy street, but I found the room to be very quiet and safe. It is a bit dark arriving on the street at... More

My husband and I stayed here in May 2015 for 10 nights. This hotel is very charming, with a beautiful quaint courtyard. The restaurant is great for breakfast (not included but reasonable) - the chilaquiles and juices were particularly good. And the view from both the restaurant and the rooftop deck is unbeatable, overlooking the Santo Domingo Cathedral (the pictures... More

This hotel is in a great location to visit the sites in Oaxaca. Rooms were clean and the property well maintained. We stayed in one of the lower level rooms and this may have been a mistake. The room was stuffy and hot. The only air circulation is from an overhead fan and didn't provide enough fresh air. Perhaps the... More

This place is cozy, beautiful, romantic, clean, and has a perfect location for a trip to the gorgeous city of Oaxaca. I spent 5 nights here and slept like a baby. Waking up in the morning and going up for some coffee in the lovely little cafe, with great service (Paco!) and wonderful food. Attention to detail, artisan sensibility, colors,... More

This place was lovely. Great location only a five minute walk from the zocalo in one direction and Santo Domingo in the other - but not so close as to be right in the center of the noise. The first room on the street level can be a tad noisy but the other rooms are all well insulated from traffic... More

I booked the hotel online for 3 nights. Upon a very early arrival, we were able to leave our suitcases at the front desk and go explore the city. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I was very impressed by how quaint and colonial the place was with great courtyard patios, terraces and plants and an incredible rooftop view... More

The staff was very nice and helpful. No complaints here. Cost was below average for the quality of room. There was no air conditioning, and the room we had was always hot. I'd guess 20 degrees warmer than the temperature outside . Had to leave the windows open and hear other guests and traffic or roast even more. Also, the... More

We stayed in one of the groundfloor rooms, so away from the street which was perfect. The bathroom was clean, as was the room itself. Bed comfortable enough. They also have a safety deposit box. Staff was very friendly and helpful, breakfast great. Gorgeous view from the rooftop to the Santo Domingo church.
