We stayed 6 nights here, and enjoyed our lovely room and the great location. We asked for an upstairs room in the back, with a balcony, and had #24 (the Santa Teresa room). Some rooms have windows only opening to the interior walkways along the courtyard, so those don’t have much privacy. We were happy with our choice of a... More

My wife and I were delayed in Mexico City so we had to take the late Delta Flight to Oaxaca. We reserved a room on line at Casa Sotano and were pleased to find a clean, adequate room when we arrived. The room was not large with a regular sized double bed. An armoir provided space for hanging clothes and... More

As our taxi pulled up outside I smiled at the vibrant orange exterior of this lovely hotel. It's decorated stylishly, is friendly and is conveniently located to explore this beautiful city on foot. Our room was basic but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very small but adequate and I would definitely be happy to stay here again.

This is a lovely boutique hotel, very clean and well maintained. Location-wise it's well situated, close enough to points of attraction but far enough away to maintain a peaceful setting. The rooms are small but functional, and again, cleanliness goes a long way in my book, so this place is really quite a gem - particularly for the money. I... More

Very centrally located - easy walk to the Zocalo and also the restaurants near Domingo church. Room was lovely and beautifully decorated. Cleaned daily to a good standard. No wi-fi access in some of the rooms, including mine, although the reception was good in the common areas. It would cost a minimal amount to sort this out and it would... More

My family stayed at this gem for 11 nights over the Christmas-New Year Holiday. The most hospitable, friendly, comfortable, safe, pristine accommodations you could ask for. I can not understand why this amazing place isn't in the guide books. It seems to always be filled up anyway- but must give them the full kudos they deserve!

This hotel is in a great location for ease of getting into the centre of everything and arriving from the bus stations and airport. It feels more like a home than a hotel with simple, traditional rooms and friendly staff. For us anyway, breakfast wasn't included in the price of the room. However, their breakfast menu offers great variety, value... More

We have stayed there a couple of times when in Oaxaxa. Beautiful gardens, clean and comfortable rooms with attention to extra little details. Very friendly staff. Perfect location for exploring El Centro. The only downside is the internet is sloooow and intermittent. It's ok for getting email but that's about it. Oaxaca city has great internet service so there is... More

This is the letter we wrote to Casa Del Sotano's Manager after our horrible experience with theft in our room in November 2014. We NEVER heard back. We feel this hotel doesn't deserve anyone's business and urge you to avoid it. "Dear sir, My fiancé and I stayed at your hotel Casa del Sotano from November 21 to 24, 2014.... More

Recently stayed in this lovely hotel for 4 days with the family. The hotel is in a great location to explore Oaxaca. Restaurants and many things worth seeing are within walking distance. Hotel check-in was quick and easy, one of the many benefits of a small hotel. The room was clean and well decorated with antique furniture. We were in... More
