We stayed in a private double room, the louvered glass windows of which faced south looking out over the city. A large blooming jacaranda sheltered us overhead. The king bed was comfortable, the sheets crispy clean and fresh. We slept soundly with no loud voices, barking dogs, or traffic noise to wake us. While the room was spartan in its decorations,... Nothing but good things to say. Location was great, close to a market, the Santo Domingo church and amazing roads to explore. The staff was so friendly, flexible and kind. One of my favorite parts was the outdoor lounge space to eat breakfast, hang and chat with people.

We, my boyfriend and I, stayed in this Hostel more than one week. Oaxaca is a wonderful City and the Hostel also. An accommodating Service, great Insider Tipps for the city, cheap Tours, hot water and a familiar feeling. The prices are perfekt for the Location (two minutes by Walk to a farmers market and five minutes to the centre)!... More

My wife and I stayed here one night in December. We arrived 6 am in the morning, but they still gave us the doom, as soon as they could. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Hostel is certainly very backpacker friendly. We would say, it is a good value for money, if you are into backpacker places. We... More

I highly recommend this hostel to anybody searching for a unique experience that can be found in Oaxaca and the beautiful surrounding area. The staff is a generous bunch and will happily advise you with great information that can steer you in gaining cool insights of the area you wouldn’t find otherwise. I was so fortunate to stumble upon this... More

Very nice hostel! Location is pretty central, few blocks to the pedestrian street and close to a local taco restaurant, reasonable prices and very tasty, only locals there. Right at the corner there are buses to the terminal. The hostel itself is clean, good hot shower, there are lockers in the room, the beds are confy and the common room... More

This was a great little find. The staff are lovely, and it seems to attract a very nice bunch of backpackers from all over the world. I stayed in one of the dorms whilst doing a Spanish language course and found lots of people to practice with. Rooms are clean and well maintained and there's a nice communal area to... More

Best Hostel I have ever stayed in! If you are looking for something homie, comfortable and relaxed then this is the place for you. Stayed here a week and a half in August 2014 and came to feel completely at home at this place. The owner is there almost all the time and any issues get taken care of quickly.... More

This is a very clean and quiet place, not far from the touristic center of the city. The price is perfectly affordable. In fact, before I decided to stay here, I went around looking for other options, and this one was definitely the best choice. The area is safe and illuminated. The wifi works fine, breakfast is included on the... More

I've stayed at El Pochon several times over the last two years. Here are my observations: Positive: 1. The staff are friendly and helpful. 2. Staff are honest. I had some laundry done by them and Dona Alo, who was washing the clothes, came up to me and handed me some money she had found in my shirt pocket that... More
