Definitely did not fall in love with this hostel while staying here for 5 nights in January 2013. We stayed in a private double with shared bathroom. The room was clean, although it was right next to the main road and quite loud in early (7am) morning. Bathrooms were fine for my tastes. Breakfast was very good, a real highlight... More

All week that I stayed here there was a very uncomfortable, melancholy vibe hanging over the place. I couldn't put my finger on it... Here are some specifics I can speak to: My single room was very nice - no complaints at all. The bathrooms were pretty gnarly. Not dirty per se, but the bathrooms could have had more privacy.... I have to agree with most that the bathroom isnt private. If you wake up at about 9am and need to poop...everyone is there eatig there breakfast just outside...you might as well leave the door open because they can hear everything you do! Theres also not really enough room to get changed etc in the bathroom. And they do charge... More

I usually try ignore the one star reviews, don't for this place, it's terrible. There are so many other options in Oaxaca. One toilet and one shower for all to share. Very noisy and uncomfortable. Also take note that many of the 5 star reviews of this place are in Spanish, a bit sus. They charged me my deposit before... More

The hostel is well kept, the staff are friendly and accomodating, the breakfasts good, rooms clean and travel information is good too. We recently stayed here for the Day of the Dead celebrations and (as expected) it was pretty noisy from guests drinking etc. The patio is audible from everywhere and most doors are metalic and noisy. One room we... More

Hostal Pochon has everything that you could possibly need. Clean and comfortably furnished dormitories, a cozy common area, deliciously fresh breakfasts and probably the most helpful and dedicated reception that I have yet encountered. It is also the most affordable hostel (believe me, I checked around) with a generous breakfast included. Personally, I enjoy hostels that are centrally and safely... More

I stayed at the small private room on the upper floor of Hostal Pochon and was very happy with it. It had everything I needed and nothing I didn't need: glass windows and a sliding door with cotton curtains, a wonderfully comfortable full-sized bed, a good fan, shelves, and enough floorspace for shoes and backpacks. About the hostel in general,... More

Reading some of the previous reviews, I have to wonder what the hell it is that backpackers expect these days. Hostal Pochon is clean, secure and close enough to El Zocalo. Personally I loved the 20 minutes walk into the centre of this gorgeous city. So much to take in! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the breakfast is ok,... More

In this place, as far as the rooms go, you get what you pay for. It's fine for budget travellers. It's clean with internet and fans. The staff were very good and the breakfasts were great too. Location pretty good.
