This hotel was booked due to being a "boutique hotel with 4 stars"- except there is no way this hotel has 4 stars at all. Nice building, but needs a lot of work. We requested an AC room but did not get it, only, ceiling fan. Most employees don't speak English but we are bilingual so doesn't matter. Food in... More

I am puzzled as to all the positive reviews for this hotel, which must be based on the personality of the manager and the servers. Yes, everyone is nice but I found the place to be quite shabby , and except for the daytime manager no one speaks English. It was painful to try to get a restaurant recommendation from... More

My newlywed wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in March 2014. The staff was great, the building is wonderful and Oaxaca is muy chido. The staff was very friendly, although they didn't speak much English. Our check in was handled efficiently and quickly; we even got complimentary shots of Mezcal! Our room was on the landing of a... Located several blocks from the Zocalo, this is a gem of a hotel offering excellent service, beautiful decor, and privacy with a most comfortable and well-appointed room. Andrea, who manages the hotel, and all the staff were so willing and helpful to make sure all my needs were met...from finding a private taxi, discovering fine eating spots, and offering a... More

As a professional pilot for a corporation. I travel often and am always looking for hotels that offer Comfort and value. We spent a week in Oaxaca during the holidays. We went primarily to see the Radish Festival and the ruins of Monte Alban. Experiencing the Christmas traditions was a delight. Andrea, the manager, was personable and made us feel at home. When you had enough of the crowds, it was nice to have quiet place nearby to retreat to. I... More

This is a classy old mansion that has been turned into a small scale hotel while retaining it's old fashioned charm. The rooms are very spacious, clean and containing all the amenities that I look for - modern bed with a firm mattress, excellent bathroom with shower, in room safe, good lighting and comfortable furniture. I always felt very safe... More

You cant miss this place. It is a small hotel in Oaxaca´s downtown. It is a house with spacious traditional rooms with all the modern amenities. My trip to Oaxaca would have been a disaster, if had not been for the kind, generous attention we received at Casa de Sierra Azul. We came into town at 12:00a.m. with another hotel for the Oaxaca film festival...to our disappointment, the hotel was awful. I called Sierra, and they were able to accomodate us at that late hour. Oaxaca is a wonderful authentic city for travelers to enjoy all that Mexico offers. The people are charming and friendly. The hotel couldn't have been more accommodating, even exchanging money for me. The maid service was exceptional. And the breakfast everyday was superb. The food was also quite good at other restaurants we visited. I stayed in the hotel 11... More
