Our plans changed at the last minute for health reasons and we needed a hotel in the historic district for 2 nights. Casa de Los Frailes was the perfect place! The staff couldn't have been more kind and helpful. Our room was comfortable and quiet and well appointed. This is a wonderful colonial hotel, and I would return in a... More

My niece, who lives in Oaxaca, recommended this hotel because it was close to the center of town - but far enough away as to not have our sleep disrupted by social protest that afflict the city on a daily basis. Pros: Clean room (everyday), A/C, TV (never used but still), Excellente helpful staff, decor Cons: Continental breakfast -Coffee (perfect)... More

We had stayed in Oaxaca down by the Zócalo before going to Puerto Escondido for 4 days, so needed a spot for one night on our return before flying home. Though there was nothing wrong with where we stayed the first time, I wish we had stayed all the nights here! The hotel is welcoming, intriguing, and though nicely and... More

By the time we leave we have been here almost two weeks. We have been treated to extraordinary hospitality by all the staff including the family representative on site and Alejandro the ever Cheerful and accommodating front desk manager. He has gone out of his way on numerous occasions but out did himself today when he personally drove us to... More

A beautiful old colonial house in an unbeatable location, right by Santo Domingo cathedral and gardens. Family owned and run, friendly and helpful, good English spoken, very reasonably priced for its upmarket neighbourhood (good cash discounts). Doesn't seem to be in many English language guide books which makes it something of a hidden gem!

We stayed here twice in January 2015 - perfect location right near St Domingo. The staff were really helpful and friendly - they made calls for us to help us with onward bookings - and just looked after us really well. Would definitely come back here. An extremely clean hotel - and the kingsize bed was very welcome. Some of... More

I was fortunate to have stayed at Casa de los Frailes for 2 weeks. The hotel met and exceeded all my expectations. The hotel was beautiful inside, the rooms are very nice, everything appeared spotless, we were in a great, peaceful location, the breakfast was always delicious traditional Oaxacan menu, and I especially loved enjoying a good read on the... We truly enjoyed staying in Casa de Los Frailes. Beautiful welcome, hotel near Oaxaca plaza and many more sites. Rooms were very clean and will refer many friends to Casa de Los Frailes for their stay. Thank for the great hospitality from Chicago IL.

The hotel has a great location a block behind Santa Domingo church. The hotel has a peaceful, retreat feeling with nicely decorated rooms. The roof is pleasant. The wifi is spotty. It worked well in my room but only in one corner of another room. The breakfast was skimpy at best. Gave one small bottle of water for each room... More

Perfect place to relax, perfect place for the money, in fact I plan on going back there next year, the owner was pretty helpful and knowledgeable about the city, would recommend anybody going there, it is a little piece of quiet and tranquility in the middle of Oaxaca. Nothing is perfect (I prefer a traditional breakfast myself, but who cares),... More
