A lovely hotel with rooms grouped around a central courtyard with pool.Rooms were small but well-equipped and with good toileteries. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced. The hotel is conveniently situated close to all sites.

It's always difficult, even with TripAdvisor, to pick a hotel in a new city. And with an eight night stay, it's even more chancy. But our semi-blind choice of Casantica turned out to be perfect. We arrived close to midnight, after a long day of travel, and had splurged a bit by having the hotel car meet us. Good choice... More

The Hotel by definition is a converted Monastery, therefore the rooms are quirky, all doors lead out onto internal courtyards, one with a swimming pool, There are poorly lit but don't let that put you of. The staff are very helpful and speak English very well. the cleaning staff never stop, the place is extremely clean, the hotel is very... More

Hotel is attractive and centrally located, and the front desk staff are polite and helpful. Courtyards including the one with the pool are cool and inviting. Cleaning staff are friendly and thorough. Prices are reasonable. But . . . (1) it was a convent so rooms are VERY dark and poorly lit (especially for reading after the sun sets); (2)... More

This hotel is central to everything in Oaxaca City. Oaxaca has several streets that are for pedestrians only (usually centered around one of the many churches in the city). You can walk to many of the main areas from Casantica; lots of shopping and restaurants next to the hotel. Casantica has a cute and charming courtyard in the center. Rooms... More

This charming hotel is the ideal place to stay in Oaxaca. Close to all the action, it's an historical building that was a convent in the 16th century and has been renovated with care and flair over three levels. The entrance has a beautiful fountain; the second level has a lovely heated pool and the third level has a wonderful... More

On the bright side, great service, perfect location and a beautiful old building. On the dark side (literally), a very small room with no external window... Our best meals in town where at the restaurants they recommended to us at the front desk, glad we asked :)

Lovely hotel right in the centre so easy to get to all the attractions you wish to visit. The room might be small but had everything you need and very comfortable. the place has unexpected charm with a wonderful courtyard. I was theer during the celebrations of the day of the dead but regrettably the alter had not been completed.... More

Lovely hotel in the heart of the action. Service was the best I have experienced in Mexico. Rooms a bit small and I agree with some previous posts that they are a wee bit noisy at times. However this is a real charm of a hotel and I would definitely recommend it.

The Casantica has a great location near the zocolo and pedestrian mall. The rooms were squeaky clean. We were there for the Day of the Dead Celebrations and the whole hotel was decorated to the hilt with a huge altar in the patio, a life sized Catrina in the doorway, and candles in every nook and cranny. Utterly charming. The... More
