Hotel Azuceras is the perfect small hotel 6 or 7 blocks northwest of the zocalo on a relatively quiet street (no buses going by). I stayed in #8 and although it is smaller than the others it has a sunny window on the quiet street side. The upstairs patio and covered breakfast area make the place very homey. Sit in... More

This lovely little hotel is so nicely situated. It is an easy walk to the restaurants, Santa Domingo Church, museums etc but still situated in a residential area. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was lovely with delicious papaya every morning. The terrace was also lovely for a late evening decaf and tea. Room was very clean and potable water was... More

This trip to Oaxaca was our first and was a spur of the moment thing - decided to go and booked our trip less than 2 weeks so I didn't really have the luxury of going through a ton of reviews but I was satisfied by the reviews and photos here for Hotel Azucenas. My criteria were: relatively cheap, close... More

Very well located - a few blocks from the centre but far enough away to be quiet and relaxing - and also find street parking nearby. Rooms surround a lovely courtyard with a terrace above with amazing views over the city and mountains. A lovely place to read and relax and grab free tea/coffee or a beer (there are a... More

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The room was clean and comfortable. The rooftop terrace is truely excellent! The staff was very helpful and the location is great, everything within easy reach. The breakfast was good as well, lots of fresh fruit. The only 'issue' we had is that our room (room 5) faced the courtyard (as do,... More

Hola Thomas L Thanks for reviewing Hotel Azucenas. We appreciate your appreciation! And we also take the noise remarks seriously. The reception staff has shushed me more than once when I have come in off the street, bursting with enthusiasm at some wonderfully Oaxacan thing that I just saw, heard or tasted. It leads to mixed emotions! Sorry that you... More

I've never stayed in a more beautiful hotel. This place is amazing. The view from the rooftop terrace will erase any discomfort you may get from the mosquitoes. Location is impeccable and the staff is extremely helpful.

The flower filled roof terrace overlooking the city is a great place for breakfast and to relax. We stayed in two different rooms here. Whilst the rooms are fairly small, they are thoughtfully decorated with interesting artworks, and talavera tiling in the bathrooms. We stayed in rooms 5 and 10, and though a bit darker would recommend the downstairs rooms... More

Hi Shikiko Jarrod, Thanks for staying with us and for writing the review. We appreciate that you noticed the details like tile and artwork. The hotel has a mix of rooms and we hope to meet the mix of preferences among our guests. With just ten rooms we have rooms upstairs/downstairs; lighter/darker; and on the front with big sliding glass... More

WE had such a lovely time at Hotel Azucenas that we didn't want to leave. The building is beautiful and beautifully kept, with rooms around a lovely plant-filled courtyard and a gorgeous rood terrace with views over the city. The terrace felt like wonderful a place to relax - full of flowers and with free tea and coffee. The location... More

Hi Hannah D, Thank YOU very much!!! It's fun to help people discover the coolest things about Oaxaca and it's also nice to hear that we've done a good job. The hotel staff is enthusiastic about Oaxacan culture and we are also well-connected to resources, services and people in the area. We work hard to make the hotel what it... More

very nice place, excellent staff, great location, wonderful breakfast with comfortable terrace. We were the only couple there one night. cons: lots of cleaning going on late into the night - which was a disturbance since the doors had to be opened for some ventilation. Huge booms from fireworks? or cars - late into the night and early in the... More

'Excellent', 'great', 'wonderful' and 'highly recommended' are adjectives that we really like! Yes! Thank you very much, Tcruzin! Sorry you experienced noise. We're noise-sensitive, too. The night receptionist comes in at 9 PM, sweeps the patio, stacks the cushions from the chairs on the roof and washes dishes in the kitchen. Normally, it takes about an hour and we've gone... More

I was pleasantly surprised by this little gem on a hill. Even though the rooms are small, you have access to a wonderful patio 24/7 that overlooks the Oaxaca Valley. With the fan and floor to ceiling windows on the rooms facing the street, the heat was bearable for me. The central courtyard and patio make this hotel a cut... More

Thanks, JuFrida! We’re glad you enjoyed your stay with us. In addition to comodo our Spanish-speaking guests often use the word acogedor in describing the hotel. It means ‘hospitable’ or ‘welcoming’ and it’s something we strive for. We´re really glad you felt comfortable with us. For the last two years we've cut our normal price 10% for the summer months....
