My family and I stayed for 2 and a half weeks at this wonderful hotel that is situated within 5 blocks of the Zocalo, the major colonial center of Oaxaca, as well as the Santo Dominco Plaza.. You can walk to all the major city churches and museums. The staff were extremely friendly and always helpful. It has 10 rooms with... more

Simply put, the Azucenas is fantastic. It's a few blocks from the main pedestrian strip, but the 5 or so blocks really isn't far and only takes a few minutes to walk. The hotel itself is in a charming old building. They have about 10 rooms (I think) set around a small courtyard with a fountain. We stayed in Room... more

Azucenas is everything you should expect from a cozy hotel, ran by the owners who renovated it. The Service is amazing, rooms very clean, we can recommend room nr2 with a neat bathroom. The courtyard is small, but has style, comfortable chairs and a fountain our 1year old boy enjoyed a lot (in fact the turtles that were inside :)... more

We stayed there 4 nights. The hotel is very nice with it's interior patio and terrace. Also very clean and the owner and the employees smily and helpful. The breakfast is simple but good, lots of fresh fruits (fresh orange juice also), cheese and wide variety of breads. It is located a little bit off the main centre (Zocalo) but... more

Lovely hotel in a quiet street within easy walk of the center. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms were very cute and clean. We especially loved the roof terrace and the honesty bar with home made mezcal! No real luxuries, but if you’re out and about most of the day, this serves as a great base for... more

GATE (Global Awareness Through Experience) has been bringing groups to Oaxaca for some years. Our hotel of preference is Hotel Azucenas. The entire staff is always so hospitable, welcoming, and warm. Whether it is help with directions, phone calls, or laundry, day or night, the staff always provides wonderful assistance in either Spanish or English. The rooms are clean and... more

Hotel Azucenas is a lovely place, centrally located in the Historic district of Oaxaca City. The fact that it's a small establishment is a plus; almost like being a guest in a home (vs. feeling lost or invisible in a larger hotel). The rooms are small, but comfortable. The rooftop terrace for breakfast (or just gathering) a delight. The proprietor... more

Our room was small and windowless, but it didn't really matter- we spent most of our time lounging on the fabulous roof deck, beers in hand. The price is great, staff friendly, rooms clean, and turtles in the courtyard fountain. They also responded right away to my reservation request, which wasn't true of a number of other hotels in Oaxaca.... more

I stayed at this hotel after reading all the wonderful reviews here. The hotel is clean and cute... staff friendly. Very good value for money indeed. BUT, I have to warn you that there is absolutely no soundproofing in the room! You will hear EVERY SINGLE NOISE coming from the outside. I could even here the people in the next... more

We recently visited Oxaca, and as it happened, stayed at the Hotel Azucenas which is some 10 minutes leisurely walk from the busy zocalo (main plaza of the city). You will like Oaxaca city with it’s colonial buildings and Indian flavor. We felt safe and, like in other places in Mexico, we met very friendly people. Azucenas is a small... more
