This b&b is in fantastic location, walking distance to town and several restaurants but still quiet. We stayed in begonia which was a little small but still comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. Stand out was the shower - good size, hot and decent pressure - things we hadn't experienced at places we stayed previously! Staff were completely welcoming and nothing... More

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Very conveniently located. Comfortable in every way. The house is great and the rooftop terrace is the icing on the cake. The staff went SO far above and beyond to make our stay pleasant! Very highly recommended.

I can't imagine a better stay in Oaxaca! I traveled to Oaxaca with my family of 6 plus one baby. We rented the entire El Secreto, which offered all the benefits of renting a house but it included breakfast and cleaning. It was the perfect balance for our family. Christina and Ceclia cooked a delicious breakfast every morning and even... More

Everything about my 4 days at El Secreto was excellent. The entire building was clean, the food was delicious and the people were nice. It was nice to be there as the only guest and it was also nice to talk with the other travelers that arrived later in the week. I would definitely stay there again.

we stayed four days in this delightful 3-room B&B. It had an outside seating area and an area on the second roof floor for sunbathing, reading or just lounging on the sofa with umbrellas for shade. There were plenty of plants and flowers everywhere. The breakfast always included a second course local dish. The staff was very friendly and helpful,... More

Top of the line! The staff was super hospitable, friendly and willing to go out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The breakfasts were some of the best we have had anywhere, and the complimentary Mezcal tasting was a nice bonus. We were very happy to have found this little gem as it made our... More

Las Bugambilias is without doubt one of the most delightful places in which we've ever stayed! It is charming, immaculately clean and tidy, with superb breakfasts (each day different). Of its three houses, we stayed in El Secreto, while visiting the other two. All are located in the central historical district of Oaxaca, within easy walking of the Zocalo and... More

I loved El Secreto. It is in a perfect location and very intimate and small. Juan, Crisitina, Paula, and Cecelia started the day off with wonderful smiles and food. Mariana, the owner, was in and out and extremely pleasant. Not only were the breakfasts beautiful and delicious, my breakfast mates were well-travelled and interesting. My room, the Dalia, was small,... More

Lovely spot, hidden away on the very safe and central Calle Reforma. Incredible room-comfortable and clean-with a fantastic breakfast cooked and served by the exceptional staff. Can't say enough! Just wonderful.

El Secreto is ranked below its partner B&Bs Bugambillias and Milagros but that may not be true for everyone. With only three rooms it offers a more private experience, and its location near Llano and Conzatti parks opens up new areas of town. The rather plain façade (see photo) with no sign hides a modernly renovated interior (wish I had... More
