I recently stayed at Casa Colonial for 8 nights. It was such an enjoyable stay! First off, the location is ideal. It is about 10-15 minute easy walk to the Zocolo and main central area, so it is just far enough away to be less crazy and noisy. Oaxaca has traffic, tourists, protesters, hawkers, and general mayhem. Walk in the... More

I arrived as an Obracadabra artist in resident and made Casa Colonial my home for a month. The Casa is beautiful, causal, magical, and comfortable with friendly staff. It didn't take me long to feel at home and sad when departure day was near! The garden and library are especially breathtaking. And as the city of Oaxaca is in a... More

Casa colonial an excellent place to stay while in Oaxaca. Amado, Gloria and the whole team at Casa Colonial make you feel like family. Truly recommend this beautiful location. All of the rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. The library is wonderful and has many books about Oaxacan history, culture and art. If you are thinking twice about this place... More

I had a wonderful pleasurable experience at Casa Colonial. The staff was excellent, extremely friendly & helpful as I practiced my very elementary Spanish on then. My room accommodation was a great value; I enjoyed a nice clean, tidy room/with bath. The breakfast aspect of this “Bed & Breakfast” was absolutely superb. It is so nice to walk into a... More

The space is breath taking...a beautiful garden courtyard, hammocks, parrots, bananas and grapefruits overhead. Really a paradise, and the rooms are comfortable, the library is spectacular, and the breakfasts are delicious. It's in a quiet location, a 10 minute walk to the bustling center, with a police station, pharmacy, and supermarket within a block. I am a young female traveling... More

I stayed at the Casa with a group of 7 of my Pilates students. From the moment I walked in to the foyer, I knew this place was special: I was surrounded by art and and air of mystique behind the purple door. The courtyard and gardens are unimaginably sublime: lush and colorful with artistic embellishments of sculpture, paintings, and... More

I just came back today from a relatively short trip to Oaxaca. Staying at Casa Colonial had enormous impact on my tour. It's a lovely, friendly refuge, where you can choose to spend time just relaxing in the garden and readfing (one of your own books or from a great selection in the library) and the service was just wonderful.... Casa Colonial is a sweet... boutique hotel? B&B? Well, it is really a class all on its own. The rooms all face a central courtyard garden, which is lovely. I especially loved the birds. There is a fantastic breakfast and you can sign up to get dinner too, which is nice if you've been out all day. The rooms vary... More

I stayed here during a weeklong cooking class and found myself feeling very at home. I would give the Casa a 5 rating except for a couple of things. First being location. It is walkable to most of central Oaxaca but there is some distance involved so if you find it hard to go long distances on uneven sidewalks you... More

Once again I had a dream vacation at Casa Colonial! I love every aspect of the Casa. I love, love the garden and the parrot. I love the chirping birds. I love the staff. I love the Oaxacan textiles and rugs in all the rooms. I love the breakfasts. The walk into town is good exercise and taxi's cost about... More
