This was my fourth trip to Oaxaca and I always talk about Oaxaca and Casa Colonial as if they were a package deal. Casa Colonial is beyond wonderful! The setting is a garden paradise including all kinds of birds and Oaxacan art. I adore the fact that a single as well as a group can coexist in this beautiful, peaceful... More

Casa Colonial is like no other hotel in Oaxaca. The friendly staff combine the best services and hospitality of a B&B with a full-service hotel. We especially enjoyed the library room with its endless shelves of English and Spanish reading material and its relaxing atmosphere. Free WiFi is available in the hotel's library room at all hours (signal is not... More

Very good location, a natural haven in the middle of the city. Makes you want to sigh when you come through the front door of the Casa. Lot's of interesting creative folks to interact with without feeling pressure to socialize. Great food, helpful and sweet staff.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Casa Colonial. We have been going there for many years and we could not have been more comfortable or well taken care of. The Casa Colonial is a oasis in Oaxaca. Starting at daybreak you are served a delicious breakfast. The staff are friendly and always helpful. The Casa is simply... More

The perfect location for walking the city! This quaint and safe niche-in-the-neighborhood includes a great breakfast, excellent staff, lovely old colonial rooms and extensive library . . . perfect for the solo traveler. All information regarding your stay is given to you ahead of time (and is noted in your room) so when you arrive, you do not need to... More

This is an expat paradise nestled among Oaxacans. You'll find plenty of English speakers, but management and staff can certainly assist with Spanish. We were here for two weeks for immersion Spanish. The staff helped with our homework. Meals you take at the Casa are delicious and the staff can certainly advise on restaurants outside the compound. And you don't... More

Seasoned traveler friends in Santa Fe recommended the Casa Colonial for a week-long stay during the seemingly never-ending Christmas fiesta. Innkeeper Jane Robison, a longtime Oaxaca resident and an outsize presence whenever she happens to be on hand, caters to savvy travelers with an ethnographic bent, which makes for fascinating conversations in the sunny, always buzzing dining room, where cook... Casa Colonial is the perfect home away from home! The Casa is in a perfect location, as it is within easy walking distance to all attractions, markets for arts and crafts, museums, cathedrals and the Zocolo (town square with parks and great restaurants. Be prepared to bring an empty suitcase for the beautiful arts and crafts you will find! The... More

My husband, adult son, and I recently returned from a delightful stay at Casa Colonial in Oaxaca, Mexico. The ample and tasty breakfast was included in our rate and featured local fruits and dishes. It was a great venue to connect with the other guests and get tips on places to visit. The staff was friendly and tremendously helpful with... More

I recently stayed at Casa Colonial for 8 nights. It was such an enjoyable stay! First off, the location is ideal. It is about 10-15 minute easy walk to the Zocolo and main central area, so it is just far enough away to be less crazy and noisy. Oaxaca has traffic, tourists, protesters, hawkers, and general mayhem. Walk in the... More
