Can't beat the location for people watching. Yes, it's noisy, but it's definitely where the action is, and the noise usually tapers off when you're ready to go to bed. We spent over a week here for the radish festival and enjoyed watching the processions on Christmas eve from a balcony overlooking the festivities. Internet is indeed spotty, but usable,... More

This hotel has a fantastic location, just in the Zócalo square in Oaxaca. Here you are defenitely in the middle of the city. The hotel is big, with four floors and has a lot of rooms. It's rather old and you can consider the rooms outdated, but they are big and very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful.... More

I have stayed several places in Oaxaca recently. I stayed here recently when the usual place I stayed was booked. The hotel staff were friendly and mindful of my needs. The location is great, right on the Zocalo. There is no onsite parking. They have a contract with a garage a few blocks away, but it will be an extra... More

A small but sane sect opt to cycle or hike or(in this instance)bus 12 hours as a vacation away from standard formalities and pressures. But at tipping points rucksack and hostels are not as appealing as top end of the market hotels But I have lost count of number of times front desk glance at my dusty dishevelled figure and glide... It's fine, average at best. The location is excellent, right on the zocalo, unfortunately that's about it. Despite Oaxaca being quite cool, the rooms without air con are hot! You will have to leave your windows open and suffer the street noise. The central lobby is cool enough to sit in and has a three tables. It's also the only... More

On the face of it, being located right on the Zocalo would be the best possible place to be. But the noise and inconvenience of getting here (the parking lot of the hotel is 4 blocks away) make it a huge drawback. It is so noisy until late at night that it is not possible to leave the windows open.... More

As a result of overbooking by booking.com, we ended up in this hotel. We had almost no choice on the matter because almost all the decent hotels in Oaxaca were fully booked during their Day of the Dead celebration by the time booking.com informed us. After much consideration, we elected to stay at this hotel because of its location which... More

The Hotel was adequate but very noisy! There is music on the Zocolo until 1:00 am most nights. With the warm weather and no central air, leaving the windows open is essential so bring your earplugs!! WiFi worked sporadically, and generally only outside the room in the hallways.

Just returned from 11-days in Oaxaca enjoying various Dia de Los Muertos celebrations. Like others have remarked, Hotel Marques Del Valle is centrally located nearby shops, museums, comparsas, etc. The long-time staff at the hotel are kind and attentive - this includes reception, housekeeping, restaurant, etc. And, yes the rooms are clean. However, the internet connection throughout our stay was... More

This nice hotel and restrurant is on the zocalo in the center of Oaxaca City. Very clean rooms. The view from room 409 is delightful. We were there for 12 days around Dia de los Muertos and enjoyed all the excitement. The lobby had a lovely alter to honor the spirits of loved ones who had passed into the spirit... More
