The very best of this hotel is its location. Just a few blocks from downtown, from the hotel you can walk to take breakfast, a drink, a coffee, visit the different cathedrals. It is clean, but facilities are not updated, hot water is, more warm than hot. No air conditioning, but they do have a fan. The house is nice.... More

We stayed at the hotel for Dia de Muertos week. Breakfast was decent and changed somewhat daily. The rooms are fairly clean, though the floors could use a washing. No bathtub in our room, just a dark shower stall. If on a budget, you could do worse in Oaxaca. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Let's start with positive: lovely staff. And it is clean. Now, instead of "quaint " it is a shabby, dingy, down at the heel hotel. There has obviously been no effort to update or revitalize for decades. Here's what is not available: restaurant, bar, air conditioning, comfy beds, good coffee, elevator, wash cloths, decent toiletries/towels and linens, quiet (street outside is... More

I really liked this place, and I wish I could give it 5 stars. 5 stars for me isn't the Hilton, but something special, quirky, interesting, memorable. But it was just very nice, and 4 stars. The staff were what made it most nice. The office folks were especially helpful. Decent breakfast, limited choices, and served to order rather than... More

The Hotel Aitana is quaint and very well maintained. Rooms open into the patio or interior (open but covered) corridor so both the noise and the airflow are limited. Helpful, friendly staff. The location (about 4 blocks from the zócalo) is excellent. Breakfast is included.

My friend and I arrived in the evening on May 9, and had reservations for 10 days. The person on duty was very nice and showed us to our room. The next morning we discovered we were the only ones in the hotel. A young man served us breakfast, which was ok. There was a woman, Gabby, who cleaned our... More

A nice colonial-style hotel on a too busy street, it's quiet once you're inside the main doors in the inner courtyard. The rooms are large and nice enough with spacious bathrooms in polished stone, but as others have commented, the rooms are very hot and stuffy. There are overhead fans but no air-conditioning and no bars on the windows which... More

Even while the hotel clerk assured me I could leave my computer and other valuables in the room instead of requesting to use the hotel safe I insisted to his dismay. The time during my visit had days in the 90s and the rooms heat up even while the nights cool. The only option is to run a ceiling fan... More

Having stayed at the same property for all our visits to Oaxaca during the past 10 years we decided to try Hotel Aitana for this visit. It is located only a few blocks from the Zocalo. Crespo street can be busy with buses but the rooms are all located off the street. Once inside you do not hear anything. All... More

In general a nice hotel in a great location with a beautiful third story roof deck with a fantastic view of Oaxaca. Nice breakfast as well and helpful staff always. Although I would not say it in an inexpensive hotel the rooms were adequate and we choose to get 2 rooms with three single beds and the beds were quite... More
