Upon arriving to the hotel everything was great. We had the corner room overlooking the streets. It was a bit noisy but being from Seattle it didn't bother us. The hotel is within in walking distance of everything. We didn't have any problems with bugs and there was plenty of hot water. The staff was friendly enough and the hotel... more

I have stayed in the Hotel Francia 2 times already and I will be returning again in Oct. 2007 for Dia de Los Muertos for 8 days. This little hotel is the most centrally located and the most reasonably priced. I have been in the old hotel and back after renovations. I find the hotel quaint and the new renovations... more

We stayed at the Hotel Francia our first two nights in Oaxaca. We chose the hotel based on price and location and were not disappointed on either. The hot water was a a problem--the shower temperature was completely hit or miss. The hotel was a bit loud, but nothing worse than other places in Oaxaca. The courtyard and restaurant are... more

We had a room with no view with very poor water pressure in the shower. The hard beds bothered some people but not me. We were next to a seating area outside the rooms we heard people at night. I wake up early and the staff was not concerned about anything but my disturbing other guests. The lack of a... more

First impression sent shivers down our spines: upon entry there is soimething very unpleasant about this place, it feels musty and dungeon-like. Despite information that it was recently renovated the hotel seemed very drab. Paint seemed fresh but everything else was not. All walls are painted white. Everything else is very old, included cracked floors, nasty faucets, filthy furniture etc.... more

My wife and I booked a stay at the Hotel Francia during the off season in mid-January. While the location was nice enough being a couple blocks off the Zocala, we encountered several major problems. First off no one at the hotel spoke any English whatsoever which normally isn't a problem. We'd been traveling through Mexico long enough to roll... more

My family and I went online to look for a place to stay, we found Hotel Francia so we headed over to Auto Club to make the reservation but they don´t have this listed as a AAA rated hotel but we went with it anyways and we loved it, it was close to everything and didn´t need to take taxis... more

Price was right, but you get what you pay for. The room was dirty and hot. The bathroom had only a thin curtain blocking the shower spray. The bathroom flooded whenever anyone showered. The towels were threadbare. The location is good, but I suspect that there are other budget hotels that are cleaner and nicer. more

Oaxica is a fantastic place for sight seeing, arts and crafts, and hiking. The people and culture are very unique. Oaxacan cuisine is unbelievabe. For the best food venture away from the Zocalo. If you are traveling on a budget I recommend the Hotel Francia which is comfortable, friendly, clean, and beautiful. The Camino Real is also great (and much... more

Hotel Francia is in a great location--just a block and a half from the zocolo. The price is also very good. However, do not let them put you in any room on the streets. They are way too noisey. If it is hot, you do not want to be in any room around the lobby. We moved 3 times before... more
