The location of the hotel is great, we where told about the noise on the front rooms so we asked for an internal room, it is just as noisy, just different kind of noise, the room gives into the cube of the hotel with the reception on the first floor, so all night you hear the reception noises, like phone... My wife and I recently joined a group of archaeology buffs on a tour of Oaxaca City and the valley, during the Day of the Dead festivities. We were booked into the Hotel Gala as part of this tour. The good news about this hotel is that it is located on the edge of the zocalo, convenient to many fine... More

room rate 610mxp, unbelievable tiny bathroom, very noisy because of the windows that are like "sun-blinds" , exelent location. the rooms look still exactly like the main photo here on tripadvisor. resume: cheap hotel that has seen better times, if you stay here, first check the rooms and get one which is not facing the street, espacially at weekends as... We stayed at his hotel as it was recommended by our driver Adelino Olea,[--] who took us to Oaxaca City from Huatulco; we asked him to suggest a moderately priced hotel, on the Zocalo, town square of the City. Yes, I will warn you it is noisy at night, because your are right where we wanted to be-on the Zocalo,... More

i am not a picky person but this hotel is awfully overpriced. The room was not only in a proper condition but we found mice walking around during the night. the staff is ok but the owner or manager or whoever he is that calls himself The Accountant was not only impolite but ridiculous when trying to cheat us with... Source of noise was from inside of the hotel. Windows open to internal halls and every conversation (or activity), even in other rooms, can be heard loud and clear. At least ceiling fan was quiet. The location next to zocalo is very convenient and the price of the room was right. Some rooms are VERY small. I asked to change... More

This hotel probably should be avoided. The rooms are noisy and none of our windows opened out onto the street. Instead, they opened into the hallway. We only picked it because it was near the center of town.

This hotel is good with the people over there as they are really nice and try to get help even though they don't speak English.

6 square meters dark rooms with the only one window on the hotel aisle. No fresh air, no light, but only a lot of noise..you con listen to eveyone passing in front of your room and the only one possibility to have some some privacy is to.close the courtains . The price you pay is an offence! You just pay... More

We stayed three nights at the Gala after fleeing from Hotel Mariposa. Small doesn't begin to describe the rooms. You have to step outside to change your mind. Actually, I couldn't believe they crammed a bathroom into a closet. Had to damn near sit sideways on the toilet. That said, the value and location are excellent. Good fair price, clean... More
