Loved the Camino Real and can´t imagine visiting Oaxaca and staying anywhere else. Location is superb (city center, you can walk anywhere), the hotel is set on beautiful grounds and is extremely well maintained. Breakfast is great and service is impecable. The rooms are beautifully decorated - although on the small side (also, there is no privacy as the partition... More

A beautiful way to enhance your stay in Oaxaca ... waking up in a great room and surroundings of the hotel full of history. Even though there were not many tourists staying in the hotel due to the current events in Oaxaca, the place and service was at its 100% ... employees are very friendly and attentive in a nice,... Even at a discounted rate, the Camino Real in Oaxaca is a bit pricier than a place we would normally stay. However, it was definite worth it! The grounds are just beautiful, and the pool is a wonderful place to relax, either for a swim, or at night for a drink. Wireless internet is available free at the pool (and... More

Spent a three night package at the Camino Real. The building is a masterpiece of history, specially the picture gallery of the renovation process about 20 years ago. It is most impressive how this building was restored from almost a ruin to a comfortable hotel. I think most of the reviews describe the place in details, so I don't need... More

My family stayed here for one week and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The history of the hotel itself is well worth the money. The location cannot be beat! A few blocks to everything and away from the maestro strike occuring during the entire month of June. The grounds were well kept and flowers were abundant everywhere. Where else can you... More

We stayed for 6 nights in late May-early June. The service is terrific -- most staff members speak English very well and are extremely friendly -- and it's probably the most beautiful and unique hotel in Oaxaca. There are wonderul patios and courtyards throughout the grounds. The renovation is very classy. There's a nice, well-maintained swimming pool. Unfortunately, our overall... More

I stayed in Oaxaca for a week with my father, and it was one of the most incredible hotel experiences I have ever had. In a renovated monastery, the grounds are beautiful. At breakfast you can overlook the garden, well and architecture while feasting on incredibly made classic Oaxacan foods. EAT BREAKFAST IN THET HOTEL, THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS, BETTER... More

This hotel was unbelievable! It is so beautiful that it almost seems fake. The flowers and courtyards are gorgeous. We had an exterior room on the 2nd floor that was perfect. We had no problem with noise and actually think an exterior room is better than interior b/c the kids at the pool and live mariachis can be quite loud... More

I have stayed in other converted convents or historic hotels in Mexico and this is the best. The rooms are decorated in traditional Mexican decor (rugs, tile floors, bed fabrics, etc.) in a very tasteful way. Modern amenities are present (t.v., hair dryer, heat/a.c.), though what makes the hotel exceptional is the pure beauty of the renovation to a 400-plus-year... More

We stayed here for 3 nights. The advice on here is key - GET AN INTERIOR ROOM. We had one and there was no problem with noise. We did see guests at reception with exterior rooms complaining. The Club room option is good value - free cocktails 5.30-6.30, free breakfast, free morning coffee delivered to your room, plus better toiletries,... More
