While we did not stay at this beautiful and historic hotel, we had drinks just about every day in the hotel's relaxing and inviting patio, a real oasis full of tropical trees and flowering plants. The staff was courteous, quiet, and accommodating. The only problem was that the hotel's pool bar was closed every time we went. I would imagine... More

We stayed here 4 nights in February 2015. It is one of the most beautiful Hotels we have stayed in. The lovely settings, courtyards and gardens and the sheer historic quirky feel about the place makes you feel in another world. We had a standard interior suite on the ground floor overlooking one of the main courtyards with no obtructions.... More

This is the second year my friend and I have escaped Chicago's frigid winter to spend time in Oaxaca and the second year we've stayed at Quinta Real. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else. This is a magical hotel with tremendous history. It's a former convent so the walls are thick--not so great for wi-fi--while the rooms are unique in... More

This was the only hotel for us. The historic value and many good comments seen on here pushed me to organize a trip with my family. We were welcomed and shown to our rooms. The building is even more atmospheric than the pictures and the rooms although small were comfortable. The meals as usual are served buffet style and the... More

Quinta Real is a very (the most?) expensive hotel in Oaxaca. It has a few things going for it: a beautiful historic convent setting, a great location for exploring wonderful downtown Oaxaca (one of Mexico's greatest cities) and very obliging staff. However, it also has numerous drawbacks. That same historic convent makes for very dark, airless and small rooms (with... More

You can always count on Quinta Real hotels to be high class and often housed in very interesting installations as is this one in Oaxaca . It was a 16th century convent that through the years has gone through many changes . We were there just one night . Our room was very comfortable , smallish but with everything one... More

This is a genuine character hotel - a recycled 16th century Dominican convent that has also served duty as a town hall, prison, school and cinema before being transformed into a hotel - all in the heart of Oaxaca. The good: location and character in almost equal measure. The standard guest rooms are comfortable with the faux-period furnishings, stucco-clad metre-thick... More

This was our second time at hotel. It has so much history that it almost seems like the walls could talk. Good buffet breakfast but a little expensive. Lots of good cafes near by with much lower prices and better coffee. I also think it is petty to charge for second device on Wifi.

First the great features of this historical hotel in Oaxaca: It is an unbelievably beautiful hotel for all the reasons that many have already written about. The serenity and tranquility are much welcomed features after a long day of tracking across the city, or touring one of the many outlying villages. There is impressive security 24/7, I'm not sure why... More

The hotel grounds are beautiful- an old house, old church and old government building all connected. Due to its charm, it has events through out the day, but the logistics are wonderful and they do not interfere with your stay. The food is great- specially the breakfast. Try the local quesadillas with chapulines (grasshopper). The home made tortillas are delicious.... More
