I stayed in both hostals - Rio Lerma and Rio Tigris - and both are warm, friendly and very hospitable. The breakfasts are great, they are different and fresh every day. Everywhere is clean and tidy. People working there give very helpful advice. You can use the kitchen to cook and prepare food, and there is a fridge for your... More

We stayed in this hostel for our first couple of nights after landing in Mexico City. The place was generally quite clean, and the room was fine. Not a huge room, but I wasn't expecting one for the price. Our room was right on the road which was quite noisy. The shared bathroom was fine, but a bit grimey. The... More

My partner and I 'lived' here for almost a week. There are two buildings, we were mostly in the original one, which has more character and is more sociable but is also in a noisier location (especially if you have a street-facing room), and then one night in the newer building round the corner which is more spacious and in... Now that we've found DFD, we stay here every time we come to Mexico City. Friendly, laid back folks. Nice, clean rooms. Excellent location! Think basic hostal but with sassy Mexi-style! Our favorite rooms: the blue and red rooms in the Rio Lerma bldg + the little room off the spiral staircase. The other bldg was recently acquired and quite... More

There are now two locations, one around the corner from the other. We stayed in the newer location and not only was it spotless but it also had its 'cool' appeal - definitely on the nicer end for a hostal/guesthouse. The rooms actually had some charm, with wood floors and attractive decorations. The beds were pretty standard though - not... More

This hostel is in a good location, and the price is right. Breakfast is good but the hours that they serve it are very restricted. Our last morning we came down at the time we were told that they start serving breakfast (we had a train to catch), and the staff person seemed extremely put out. After waiting for 20... More

This lovely family was getting ready to open their new hostal - only a couple of blocks from this one, and promises to be fantastic. Our family was treated so well - again - and the location is just perfect - close to restaurants, and the subway. We might want to try the new place next time - private bathrooms!!!

The owners are lovely people, help you with everything. The breakfast is really good too, omelets, eggs, or tortillas, coffee and toast. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated and the location of the hostel is convenient too. The only thing that can be criticized is the bathroom upstairs which might need some renovation, but besides that I felt very comfortable... More

We spent 2 nights in Mexico City at the beginning of our trip and chose Dos Fridas because of the location and good reviews. Yes, the location is great, but the room was very basic and the bed not that comfortable. We also found that the outside space (where breakfast was served) looked a bit grim and only had space...
