We spent here 4 nights as a part of our Mexican tour and the hotel was a very good choice. I cannot really add much to the previous reviews, but emphasize the great value we got for the money. Great location, only 2 minutes walking from the Zocalo, nice food and very nice staff. The only problem we experienced was... more

If you are looking for the best location, service and at an incredible price, look not more than the Hotel Catedral. They have a "Hospitality Desk/Concierge" that the only work is to get you anything that you need at no cost. They can arrange any visit, get you directions, timetables, reservations, let you travel guides and give you excelent tips... more

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It was inexpensive for a double room. I booked online and received an immediate confirmation from the hotel in English. The hotel is on a very busy street, so the taxi driver dropped us off at the corner. The hotel is by no means modern or pretty in the aesthetic sense, but... more

We stayed at Hotel Catedral for the first 2 nights of our longer vacation around Mexico. The hotel is overlooking the Caterdral and is only one block away from the Zocalo. There are only a few hotels that can beat the location. On top of that for a very reasonable price you get a very nice room (either noise +... more

Just got home tonight for a week in Mexico. Last time, we stayed in Holiday Inn right around the corner on 5 de Mayo Ave, and it was a great time. Some people told me about Hotel Catedral, and I did some reading on TripAdvisor and decided to give them a shot instead. Good decision. We stayed in a suite,... more

I had been recommended this hotel due to its location, and it is certainly central. Below are my comments: Good: It is incredibly elegant. I was particularly impressed by a bathroom suite including bath, shower and bidet. The rooms are wonderfully comfortable and incredible value. The bed was enormous and was faced with a full length mirror The reception staff... more

There's a lot to like about this fine hotel, and one major caveat. The likes: Superb location two blocks from the Zocalo, courteous and professional staff, clean and comfortable rooms, affordable. The caveat: Hammering, gut-pounding recorded music from a nearby disco that's the loudest I've ever heard from a hotel room. I've got nobody to blame but myself (and perhaps... more

ear plugs and Mexico go together. Usually in relation to animals (dogs, roosters, etc) or street noise. I visit Mexico City every alternate year and this is my third stay at the hotel. I ask for a quiet room and usually get #310,311 or 410,411. This year I was awakened at 2:00 AM from a scratching/gnawing sound. I have owned... more

After a gruelling flight over from the UK, this hotel allowed us to 'come round' comfortably. Very good reception staff and breakfast choice impressive. I would recommend. It is right behind the Zocalo and the Cathedral, with lots of interesting things to see nearby. Don't miss the Diego Rivera murals in the Palacio Nacional! more

Loved the hotel (the food was awesome!) but the guide recommended by Teramo48 in an earlier review of this hotel, Isaac Margulis, was awful. We had just one day in Mexico City in late January 2009 and wanted a guide so that we could make the best use of our limited time. Isaac took us straight to trashy tourist traps,... more
