This small inn is truly in the heart of this interesting city. Hugo, the manager, is FULL of information of what to do and see, and spent much time with us giving his recommendations -- all which were good. It would be worth staying here just for the good advice, but the place has character, location and outstanding breakfast served... more

Everytime I return to Guanajuato -- and I've been there five times now -- I fall in love with it all over again. There is no better place to experience the charm and beauty of the city than from Alma del Sol, perfectly located in the center of town -- and an oasis of beauty and delight in itself. Among... more

I've been to Guanajuato many times before and I am always looking for a new place to stay. We usually stay at Casa Espiritu (in Marfil), but we wanted something closer to the city. The location is absolutely perfect. You are a few blocks away from the Jardin (main centro) and many different food and nightlife options. As for the... more

I was curious what it would feel like to be in Mexico with non-traditional Mexican art or furnishings, as the claim to 'fame' I read was that the owner had dressed this, his second B&B (the other is Casa de Espiritu inside the city but outside the city center; the owner lives in CA) in textiles from India. I needn't... more

This well located quiet comfortable B&B is a gem. Your excellent host Hugo is wonderful. There is charm and comfort. Excellent bedding tasteful and wonderful breakfasts. Don't miss the gorditas. This is an excellent choice for artists and those who appreciate art. You might miss it as there is no sign in front. Don't worry you are in the right... more

We spent 3 days at the Alma just after the New Year. What a delight! It's hard to separate the inn from the personality and oversight of the Alma's host, Hugo, whose presence alone is worth the trip. Guanajuato is an (I'm afraid to say it) undiscovered gem and Alma del Sol is a perfect central location from which to... more

After reading about Guanajuato and the Alma del Sol Bed and Breakfast in the travel section of the Los Angeles Times on 07/27/08, we just had to visit. Alma del Sol is situated in the heart of the city across from the grand church of La Compana and it is truly an experience in itself for it’s partly a museum/gallery... more

Right in the heart of downtown Guanajuato. You can walk to everything. The rooms are very comfortable and Hugo the manager is the ultimate host. He knows the town and provides a map to the important sights and the best restaurants,. He will arrange transportation to places outside of Guanajuato and the breakfasts every morning are amazing. more

What a great experience! Guanajuato, Cervantino, and Hugo. We had a ball. Plusses: Location, Hugo, the Breakfasts, gathering on the rooftop mixing with such interesting people,Hugo's generosity, wonderful comfortable bedding, gorgeous bathroom stuffed with lush towels, soaps, hairdryers, even scissors.Did we mention Hugo. Suggestions: In the two bedroom suite-only one mirror. When four women are getting ready in the morning you... more

We just got back from Guanajuato after staying one night at Alma del Sol. It was the best B&B experience we have had. Hugo is a fabulous host and even better chef. Alma has a great location, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom very clean and modern. We are going back for a longer stay before the end of... more
