Guanajuato is UNESCO Heritage listed and as such its architecture is very well preserved. Don't come to Guanajuato expecting ultra modern hotels; instead, you will find yourself in magical properties that take you back in time. El Meson de los Poetas is 2 houses that came together- high ceilings, spacious, staircases. The location is excellent. The best part was the... More

Getting to this hotel is an experience in itself. Through a maze of intersecting tunnels you finally arrive at one of the streets in the historic district. Parking is through another tunnel to a parking lot that had reasonable rates. Check-in was quick and efficient. We had a superior double room which was very clean, roomy, but overlooked the common... Our family vacation would not have been the same if we had stayed at a different hotel. This hotel is beautiful it’s very traditional and historic looking. The rooms were very clean and comfortable; there was even a small kitchen and fridge. Yes, there are a lot of stairs but by the end of our vacation I got used to... More

Here are the pros and cons: Pros: - a perfect location. Next to the Casa Diego Rivera. 5 minutes walk to Basilica and a couple of more minutes to Teatro Juarez. Everything is within walking distance. - Clean rooms, and room size is average - Price is not too bad. We paid about 1000 pesos per night plus tax. -... More

This place was great. We stayed about 4 nights. The room was clean and confty. The employees were great and helpful. It's located close enough to the main plaza but far enough were you dont have to stay up with the noise. The decour was classic beautiful with lots of open spaces and antiques everywhere..

Rather than spend 6 hours waiting for my flight, I took a taxi from the airport to explore the lovely city of Guanajuato. I stopped at the beautiful El Meson de los Poetas and asked them to call a taxi to go back to the airport. Not speaking Spanish, I was delighted to find out that Victor the bellman grew... More

Cute hotel. Very clean and very quiet, walking distance to plaza de la Paz. Weekend price $75 a night via Expedia. Breakfast stop right across the street was great and dinner at the tavern de diego y frida next door was also very good. Only issue, lots of stairs to get to room from lobby.

Room was really clean and comfortable, Hotel Staff and bellboy very kind and assisting, no elevator. Located close to everything in Guanajuato, it has no parking but they provide safe alternatives to park your car for a reasonable fee, we love it!!!!

El Meson de los Poetas is centrally located within walking distance of all of the major attractions in Guanajato. The hotel is located in a historic building that has been fairly well maintained. We booked a King sized bedroom and while the room was perfectly adequate unfortunately it only had one window in the shower and another window in the... More
