Very friendly and helpful staff, willing to make sure you are taken care of. The exterior of the hotel is deceiving, inside is beautiful and worth a look around. We stayed there for 4 days and 4 nights and really enjoyed the stay, especially for the price. Just don't let the look of the outside fool you, there are some... More

Ok if you are on a budget, rooms are basic, beds are very hard and rooms are very noisy, breakfast is adequate, staff is quite helpful, a little far from the center . Basically a very simple hotel nothing less and nothing more.

I like staying at quaint little places in small towns in Mexico. The Socavon certainly did not disappoint. The hotel is some kind of old mine and has a ton (literally?) of bricks in the lobby, and rooms. Very old and charming. Of course if you are looking for a modern place look elsewhere. The plumbing fixtures are quite dated... More

This was my second stay in the hotel, and again, it didn't disappoint. I stayed here with a youth group this time. The rooms were adequate, and the water was hot and with reasonable pressure (we stayed on the second floor, which may have helped that.). The gentlemen at the front desk were always cordial, and the waiter in the... More

Clean no frills accomodation. Nice inner courtyard. Rooms are dated but have some charm. Included breakfast is good. Try to get a top floor room as noise from guests above can be easily heard. Good front desk service.

The Socavon hotel is in a great location, within walking distance, perhaps 15 minutes, of centro. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We had a room with two double beds, facing a nice courtyard filled with lots of plants. Very nice pillows! From the outside it doesn't look especially welcoming, but once inside, it's nice. The rooms tend to be... More

This stay was a great value near the museum/landmark of Alhondigas de la Granitas, the site of the first major victory of the Insurgentes under Hidalgo (and where his head later hung for over a decade). My only complaints were that the room was warm/no ventilation even though the ceiling fan was going---I had to leave the windows open but... More

This hotel doesn't look like much from the street, but once you get inside it's much better. The rooms are basic, but clean. The first night of our stay, we were in a room facing the street. There was alot of street noise and the internet didn't work from it. We asked to move to a quieter room for our... More

Four hours away from Mexico City Guanajuato is easily one of Mexico's most beautiful towns with a great nightlife. The hotel boasts a very beautiful although unused courtyard. The rooms are nice, clean, simple and spacious enough. The hotel is cheap and you get a lot of value for your money. Although you can choose between many breakfast options food... More

The Socavon is definitely not a four of five star hotel. However, if you're looking for a good inexpensive hotel in Guanajuato, this is a great option. The place is clean. It has charm. It had a good internet connection (I was able to use video skype with no problems). A full breakfast was included. I'd definitely stay here again.... More
