This hotel is in an old building, charming and beautiful, has big rooms, it's clean, but it needs updating, not much as not to take the charm of the hotel away. Parking is a few feet away, the city center is around the corner, all the great sites are within walking distance, shopping, restaurants, other hotels are all around, it... More

We stayed here for 4 days after visiting several other Mexican destinations. I was really sorry we did. I was never able to get a good nights sleep with the constant music from the disco attached to the hotel. Sunday night at 3:30 am and it was still going on, loud enough as if it were in the next room.... More

If you need a lot of room, but can sacrifice closet space, this is the best price for suites in the downtown area. Think of it as a fancy motel that likes a good party. We enjoyed the view, the space, and the old world charm. If you don't need a lot of space and don't care about old stuff,... More

Stayed here after seeing the lobby and because it has been a hotel since 1610. My first room was gorgeous with its original beamed ceiling, but the man who'd just repaired the sink didn't clean up, and I could open the balcony window easily from the outside. I was upgraded to a large suite on the roof. The room was... More

This is an extremely old hotel in Mexico. Since 1610, this hotel has served the tourists that come to Guadalajara. Location: 5 minutes walking to the Zocalo, then to the plaza de la liberacion and then to the Rotunda de los Jaliciences illustres where you will also find Tapatio tours for a turibus tour of the city. (Actually there are... More

Stayed here in 1998 on my first trip to Mexico. I was a little skeptical because the description in tour book said no A/C, no elevator. Choose an American owned hotel, it was awful. Went to Hotel Frances the first morning for breakfast. I was sooo impressed. We booked a suite at 1/3 of the price of the American hotel!... More

We stayed this hotel for emergency,a family members funeral for 2 days in Guadalajara. First of all, it was dark all the places and felt like we were in haunted house... and its elevator was too old enough to feel like fall down any time,,, I wondered if they are inspecting the codes and harnesses of it. And near our... More

The hotel is step back in time to the seventeenth century. The location is ideal. It's filled with character and lovely, accommodating staff. But the property was built at a time before it was surrounded by buildings that block the flow of air into the hotel. So the lock of AC is an issue, even if the ceiling fans are... More

The Frances Hotel, founded in 1610 is in the very heart of El Centro de Guadalajara. This fourstory stone edifice offers exactly what you expect of a centrally located hotel. As their brochure, in Spanish, states they have every modern convience. Well, the elevator looks like the very first one, but it safe and ample. We spent a long weekend... More

If you want to be in the heart of Guadalajara, in the historic centro area, you can't beat the Hotel Frances. Yes you can find fancier hotels with the glitzy lobbies, fancier rooms & more snob appeal but if you're looking for authentico, this is it & the price is right. This is a cool little place, comfortable & safe... More
