The hotel is step back in time to the seventeenth century. The location is ideal. It's filled with character and lovely, accommodating staff. But the property was built at a time before it was surrounded by buildings that block the flow of air into the hotel. So the lock of AC is an issue, even if the ceiling fans are... More

The Frances Hotel, founded in 1610 is in the very heart of El Centro de Guadalajara. This fourstory stone edifice offers exactly what you expect of a centrally located hotel. As their brochure, in Spanish, states they have every modern convience. Well, the elevator looks like the very first one, but it safe and ample. We spent a long weekend... More

If you want to be in the heart of Guadalajara, in the historic centro area, you can't beat the Hotel Frances. Yes you can find fancier hotels with the glitzy lobbies, fancier rooms & more snob appeal but if you're looking for authentico, this is it & the price is right. This is a cool little place, comfortable & safe... More

Location, location ..my room was on the 2nd floor. awesome ..the hotel is located in the heart of downtown near everything and its a beautiful hotel for her age!!!! I enjoyed my stay but it lacked A/C. I recommend walking on sunday to The Revolution park and take in all the commotion, involvement and uniqueness the park attracts.

I booked this hotel with a double bed for our entire 10 day vacation in Guadalajara because I loved how close it was to everything in the heart of the city and for the amazing old world structure. Our first room was a little small and there was no A/C but the ceiling fan helped and we kept the balcony... More

To give this hotel a one is being kind and terrible is an understatement. The reservation was for my female friend travelling alone in an unfamiliar city and the room she is assigned has no lock on the door! what kind of security are they providing, plus the wooden door frame was so rotten the door could've been easily pushed... Enjoyed the Hotel Frances. In the best location in Centro. It has been open since 1600's so it's old - but it's a special place. The "noise" that people talk about from bands is only on Friday and is the sounds of people and music which is what Guadalajara is all about. We didn't hear the disco at all. We... More

There is a good reason they want payment at check-in. While the hotel is clean and comfortable, even though it could use some refurbishment, the Disco in the basement of the Hotel booms throughout the rooms from 8:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m., nightly so you will have difficulty sleeping. I am sure one night is enough for most people, hence... More

This hotel is located in a very convenient location for first time visitors. Lots of shopping, restaurants, tour busses, museums and theatre. Hotel has lots of character and loved the atmosphere including the very old elevator which has a total character it's self. There is a lovely view from the roof and well worth climbing the stairs to the very... More

Architecture is wonderful. customer service- a dud. Front desk is only minimally helpful and not friendly. We were asked to leave on the 4th day of a five night stay without explanation just "get out"
