We loved the Sumiya as far as the place, the people, etc. We were there to do a wedding, so we didn't have to pay, but I understand it's pricey at times. I know the diner we had, which we paid for, was pricey and not that good. The breakfast, both days, buffets, were very good, Sunday better than Saturday. The... More

I enjoyed this hotel for personal reasons - a Love of my Life built this as Barbara Hutton's home for a man, I believe, was her last husband. I had been there thirty years ago when it was a restaurant but was so happy to see that it had been re-opened as a Camino Real. The architect, Alfredo Terrazas de... More

The gardens here with their enormous laurels and tabachines are a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the view. Service is with a smile and the buffet breakfast and luck over the weekend is good value with Mexican and western dishes. However at other times the food is average to awful. From cheap coffee at breakfast to ' vacuum packed'... More

The hotel is nice but doesnt keep up with the price. Everything is very expensive, the pool is dirty the wifi is not for free and they only have one restaurant open. My wife and me have been dissappointet. The web page promises way more than what it is :-(

The architecture of the landscape and gardens are so beautiful, you really can feel in the air Japan!! However the rooms are very small and the food is just average. the service is good but it didn’t excel my expectations. I got a sports masage and it was good but then again, for the prices and the reputation I was... More

This hotel really needs an upgrade, too old, to dark, to noisy, and bug friendly, remember to bring insecticide you will need it if you want to sleep, spider webs are also included in the price of the room

Sumiya is set on beautiful, well kept grounds with huge flowering trees. The Japanese style resort is very well maintained and the service was great. Our room overlooked the pool which was nice but also a little bit loud. It is not however without fault. The bed was really hard and uncomfortable and they use an outdated system to keep... More

I had the opportunity to stay at the Camino Real Sumiya a while back and found it to be a very nice place to stay! It was an interesting mix of Japan and Mexico! It is located in a very secure area. There are quite nice views on a clear day of the nearby volcano.

Beautiful gardens, nice pool, the hotel was made as a big Japanese palace, it's like traveling to Japan but with the excellence in service that Mexico is famous for. I't a the price is high but is worth it. I think is a great place to rest and relax, if you go on the weekends you'll find families with children... More
