We stayed here for 6 nights and would stay again. The staff are all very friendly and helpful The restaurant has great food and the wait staff are willing to bring anything to you while you are relaxing. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It's not the Ritz but it was all we needed. It is very quite and peaceful.... more

We went to Zihuatanejo last year for the first time and had booked a place online and it turned out to be a total dud, so after one night, we asked a few locals and checked availability of rooms and we wound up at Villa Mexicana. It's located on the main beach side of the town and has a nice... more

Villa Mexicana exceeded my expectations. The staff is professional and very hard working. The staff is meticulous with their cleaning and service. The rooms were very basic. The beds were a little stiff for our liking. The food at the restaurant (breakfast, lunch or dinner) is fantastic. I can't say enough about the location on the beach, absolutely beautiful. more

I was a bit wary of this hotel due to some of the reviews which were mixed, but I was very, very pleasantly surprised when we arrived (one couple, one family with 2 kids). The location is right on the beach. Our rooms had balconies with chairs and small table overlooking the beach and pool. There is a main swimming... more

After striking out on a hotel up on the cliff (and thus with great views), we "settled" for the attractive Villa Mexicana. It turned out perfectly. Though we hadn't reserved it, we were offered a ground level room, with access directly to the beach, on arrival. We took it. Apparently it's the same price as the other rooms, with the... more

OK, so I planned a trip to Zihuatenejo with my aunt - her treat - how nice! She's been there several times and has stayed for 2-3 weeks each visit. We only had a short 5 days in February and she let me handle the booking. She always stayed at a nearby hotel but mentioned the stairs so I choose... more

Watch out for the following scam: we booked this hotel over the internet, and received a confirmation for a "deluxe oceanview" room. When we checked in, we were taken to a basement, courtyard-facing room, which smelled somewhat stale and moldy. When we mentioned that this room doesn't fit the criteria, they told us we could move into the oceanview room... more

The hotel was exactly what we expected. Nothing fancy, perfect location, quiet. I disagree with the reviewers regarding the ocean view rooms. The front desk will work with you and move you if you really require an ocean view. Totally not worth it. We received a free breakfast every morning because we didn't take a room with a view. The... more

My husband and I and another couple have stayed at this hotel for the past 5 years every January. It has a wonderful location and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The issue is that all the rooms are the same price, and you can have a great ocean front room or you can have a room that overlooks nothing.... more

Spent 1day last year, wanted to do a week this year in Zihautenjo & found this property to have the best beach. A little reluctant being a small property made a guaranteed reservation almost a year ago for an ocean view room. Upon arrival, filled with anticipation of a wonderful week, we were told by the desk there were no... more
