Now that Sotavento is in a perpetual state of construction, we've stayed at Catalina at least 6 times. They always remember us (or at least pretend to), and we just love it. This year, the beach bar was open all day. In 2009 it wasn't. Antonio takes car of baby turtle releases, beach cushions, etc. Hiliberto is a wonderful young... More

Check in was a breeze. All staff was very helpful and friendly. We stayed in #53 the Linda Vista suite. The views were breathtaking from the patio which was equipped with a sofa, chair, table, Ceiling fan, hammock and two lounge chairs. The rooms were very basic: bed (more on the bed later) fridge and small TV. But no more... More

Come every Novemebr since 1995. Little has changed to effect the enjoyable experience. A few new rooms (Linda Vista Suites), awsome views of Bahia Zihuatanejo, easy access to Centro, same attentive staff, best part of la Ropa beach, and the restaurant food is top notch. The rooms are dated and not 5 star quality but still functional. Dinner in the... More

The view from the hammock on our private balcony was absolutely perfect. Just a few steps down to the beach, and a few steps up to the pool, bar and restaurant, all with incredible views. We stayed for 5 nights and were treated wonderfully. The owner of this hotel gives generously to organizations that support her local community. I recommend... More

Since I was first introduced to the experience of the Catalina Beach Resort in 1985 I have returned as frequently as has been possible. While renovations, remodels, addition of the infinity pool and many rooms has added convenience over the years, the high quality of the wonderful staff and inherent beauty of the spectacular views has always brought me back.... My husband and I are Catalina Beach Resort regulars--we have stayed here more than a dozen times over the last ten years. We are not alone. The Catalina Beach Resort offers the absolute best beach experience on La Ropa beach--and at a fantastic price. The beach palapas are roomy, spaced well apart from one another and with extensive beachfront so... More

We spent the first week of February here and loved it. Very gracious, helpful and wonderful staff. We had one of the smallest casitas and had two beds. The room was simple and worked well for us. There is only an overhead fan and for the week we were there it was fine but I can see how in hotter... More

Our family stayed for four nights and parts of five days in early February. It was fantastic. Perfect weather. Relaxing, gorgeous beach. Attentive, gracious staff. Good food in the restaurant, especially the fruit, seafood, and ice cream desserts. The rooms were comfortable and plenty luxurious, unless you want five-star opulence. The rooms have scenic views from their verandas. And it... More

We spent a week at the Catalina Beach Resort over the Xmas New Years Holiday and loved it. The view from our room as well as the restaurant and bar areas was amazing. The rooms were simple but great and the AC was able to keep up with the heat Mexico promises. The staff were all wonderful and made us... More

We stayed at the Catalina in August 2013. The hotel is a little outdated but still has lots of charm. The rooms are large with GREAT private terraces, which is nice. I would definitely make sure to book one of the rooms with air conditioning, though - they can get pretty stuffy. The hotel staff were amazing and very friendly,... More
