We too just returned from a visit to the Tropicana Hotel. There was a sign on the back of our hotel room door that set the tone for the week: "NO OVERNIGHT GUESTS IN ROOM, NO IMMORAL ACTIVITY". We have stayed at Tropicana every year for past decade, and each year their customer service has declined. Straights be advised that the Tropicana is adjacent to Puerto Vallarta's gay beach, and is well situated n the gay district (which is why we rated "location" as excellent). If such diversity makes you uncomfortable, you will want to choose another hotel.... More

I have stayed in this hotel a number of times and this trip was my last. There just seemed to be one issue after the other that didn't impress me. 1. The promised WiFi internet is very unreliable. Out of my 10 day visit, the internet (available only in the lobby, not in the rooms) worked....maybe 4 of those days.... More

We had nothing as plesant experiences. We upgraded to a room with a kitchen and oceanview with no problems. The staff was friendly. Always had room at the beach with chairs.
