This place was a dump. Unfortunately, the cab driver delivered us to whe wrong "El Cid," yes, the one in this review. When we went to check in, instead of telling us we had no reservation, they put us in a room as if it had been planned all along. I wonder how frequently this happens. After spending one night... Where do I start? I guess from the beginning. For starters, I have traveled to four other major popular tourist spots in Mexico. I know some of the tricks to get you to take the time shares so I am lucky but WOW Mazatlan is filled with timeshare people EVERYWHERE! I have never seen this many and most chase you... More

Our family of 6 went to the El Cid the first week of January'07. This hotel has some very good features and some very poor ones. First the positives: very clean hotel, staff are freindly and accomodating, the beach was excellent for swimming & boogie boarding and very safe, no undertows. The "x-tra's" are cheap in Mazatlan. Parasailing was USD25... More

After having been to Mexico before, I was prepared for anything. The El Cid Castilla Beach is a really pleasant surprise. All the people I dealt with at the hotel were VERY nice and friendly. It didn't matter whether it was the desk clerk, waiter, bellboy or housekeeper. They all had smiles on their faces and they were generally helpful.... More

We were supposed to have 2 hotel rooms in the El Moro Tower but ended up staying on the Castilla side. We asked for 2 rooms next door to each other & we were told they were 3 apart. The front desk at the El Moro didn't seem to care or even try to get us closer together. When we... More

after reading reveiws about the Castilla we were a little wary to say the least about our trip to Mazatlan. I went with my family ages ranging 5 months to 60. This resort is simply fantastic! Beautiful hotel and the freindliest staff! Look for Ramone at the wet bar he was an awesome bar tender! The staff catered to our... More

Just got back from a week at the Castilla, what a great Christmas we had. From a parachuting Santa who delivered bags of candy to all the kids to the great shows and good food. If you are not looking for a 5 star hotel this is a good place to stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the... More

We just returned home from 11 nights here. This was again an amazing holiday. We felt very comfortable and safe here in the resort and in Mazatlan. We were returning guests and were remembered by several of the hotel staff. The hotel has updated (at least in our room) the mattress and so we didn't need the mattress topper that... More

I am telling you from the beginning that overall is a nice place. Listing all the facts that might help you decide: - this resort has a large majority of Mexicans tourists, that implies that majority of the entertainment is in Spanish and the rest in a poor/acceptable English - in the first day in the hotel lobby we were...
