Please read the reviews carefully and notice that the people that complain the most are also the ones that cannot spell or have no real grasp of the English language and grammar. That will tell you quite a bit right there, hence the term Ugly American. This hotel is in Mexico. It's not in the USA. If you visit Florida,... More

Returned a week ago after a one week stay at this resort. I had read many of the pros and cons regarding the resort and have to say that most of the information was right on the money. First, the positive: service was second to none in the bars and restaurants. The maid service for the rooms was generally very... More

It was with a lttle bit of trepidation that I headed away on vacation to the RIU after reading some of the negative reports on Tripadvisor. After the first day at the hotel, I began to wonder if these reports were for this hotel. From the moment we arrived things went well. The check in was handled in an 'express'... More

Well, I just got back from my trip from Mazatlan. First I must say I am used to staying in Cabo so this was sort of a last minute trip and the price was the incentive to give it a try. The trip to the hotel was about 25 minutes or so from the airport and Mazatlan is definately NOT... More

I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to having a great time at a great spot ! This hotel is dubbed a five star hotel. Although it is well on its way to achieving five star status, I would give it a three star. I have never actually stayed at a five star resort before, so it was amazing.... More

One of my main reasons for selecting this resort was the beach. The beach exceeded our expectations 10 fold. The waves were extremely consistent and of good quality for bodyboarding and surfing. It was some of the best bodyboarding we've ever done. The jellyfish issue was almost non-existent during our stay. We were in the water for hours everyday without... More

My two sisters and I decided to go on a long weekend trip to Mazatlan in early August. We have been on trips together previously to other Mexican destinations such as Cabo and after reviewing prices and what not, decided why to try a new location. Result: Mazatlan. We also chose the all-inclusive RIU because of its reputation and the... More

We are a family of four (2 boys 10 & 15) who stayed 1 week at the RIU Emerald Bay. This was our 13th all inclusive in Mexico but first at a RIU. For a 5-star rated hotel, we were very disappointed. Some of the 3-star resorts we've stayed at were much better. Knowing the property had just opened two... More

I just got back from this resort and because of the other reviews and the RIU reputation we felt confident that we were going to enjoy our trip. We could not have been more wrong. This resort is built for Mazatlan locals so there is an infestation of unsupervised children (12 and under are free), dirty rooms, HORRIBLE recycled food... More

Very nice 5 star resort hotel. We went during the summer months, which attracts all the nationals, so this differs dramatically from December to April. Incredible beach. Hotel chain increases security over other hotels which are spread out. check out is a gong show but normal by many South American standards for these types of hotels. Prepare in advance. What...
