My wife and I went to the Riu Emerald Bay in Mazatlan in June of this year and her wedding and engagement rings were stolen from our room on the last evening of our stay. No response from any of the email addresses provided by reception. No time to engage anybody at the hotel the morning of our departure. Have... More

Stayed at this resort in April 2010, the hotel is imposing from a distance, very big. All rooms face the ocean which is nice. Food and accommodations were good. Beach is beautiful. Vendors leave you be if you pleasantly say no thanks. Outdoor restaurant, Mr Lionso's about a 10 minute walk down the beach is incredible- we went twice, great... More

This is a nice new hotel on the beach. Almost all the rooms are ocean view. The rooms are nothing fancy but they are clean with a private balcony looking out onto the ocean. It is romantic in the evenings to share the sunset with your spouse/partner. The cleanliness of our room was good but a couple of the public... More

I decided my husband and I needed a vacation together as he has Rheumatoid Arthritis and I did not know how long we would be able to take such a trip. We had such a wonderful time. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. The service was perfect. We enjoyed every meal we had while there. The hotel itself... More

Amazing food, 4.5-5 star food in all restaurants. The buffet really has too much to comment on, the only bad thing I can say is don't order the Donkey Steak from the Mexican restaurant (which you don't know it's a Donkey Steak until they bring it to you). The hotel/resort is brand new, rooms are nice with very comfortable beds,... More

Where to even begin with this place....first let me state that we have stayed at another Riu five star property and had wonderful comments on that one. This one however left so much to be desired that you would better off just staying home. The hotel was full of locals for lack of a better term. Everyone brought the entire... More

The RIU is very fresh and pretty and clean. Someone is continually mopping floors which is nice because of all the sand. Our room was spacious and had spectacular views. The city lights were to the left, the sunsets to the right, gorgeous palm trees and ocean--even the pools were beautiful. There were millions of comfortable pool and beach recliners... More

So my hot girl and myself were at the riu emerald bay last November. We had an amazing time. we never had any problems to speak of. one thing that no one seems to talk about on trip advisor is if you clime around the little island in front of mr luonsos , there's a cool bat cave that you... More

This hotel is really nice, very clean and a huge complez with a good private beach. Mazatlan is beautiful and the people and staff are super friendly and helpful. The only downside of this place is durign busy season when you have to wait for the lifts, other than that there's absolutely nothing bad to say about it. Food is... More

Summary: We had a great time, the food was terrific, and we experienced only a couple of flaws. The Riu far exceeded our expectations. The buffet restaurant had so many choices that we had trouble enjoying all of it. There was always fresh fruit, a whole buffet line of various choices. At breakfast, they blended fresh juices -- 6 or... More
