We;ve never been to an all-inclusive resort and went into the experience not expecting too much (drunks, insititutional food, crowds, etc). We were very pleasantly surprised! The resort itself is gorgeous and being new it's very clean and well maintained. We paid extra for an "Ocean View" room ... shouldn't have bothered as all rooms are ocean view. There are... More

We just got back from Riu Emerald Bay and our expectations was that we were welcomed and treated well. The food was excellente and the hotel was just beautiful. People, when you are visiting another country, open your mind and go with the flow, enjoy your experience, quit the complaining. We walked the beach daily and were met with only friendly "OLA" everywhere,Mexicans are... More

Only stayed at the Riu for one week but thoroughly enjoyed it. What made the trip special was the staff who couldn't do enough for us. We tipped but not overly which is more than I can say for most of the people. We aren't rich but I figure if you can afford to do this trip, do it properly.... More

When planning our trip to Mazatlan the Riu looked like the best place to stay. Several friends and family had stayed at other Riu's and the chain came highly recommended by some pretty picky travelers. It all started with a theft from our room. I would never think to put my sunglasses in a safe as I never buy expensive... More

I have just returned from Mazatlan. The trip with Skyservice was terrible there and back. I have been to many 5 star hotels but this one wouldn't rate a 5 star in my opinion. The service was ok but in no way did you feel pampered or waited on. Some staff was friendly but they didn't go out of there... More

This hotel has great food, staff and is ultra clean but beware of towel theft! The hotel is well aware that there is a towel theft problem and guests are expected to pay 220 pesos if one goes missing. Hang on to your towels. We heard stories of theft in the rooms as well. Keep your most valuable belongings locked... More

This is a wonderful hotel! Smooth airport to hotel transport, smooth check-in, somewhat small room until you see the ultra private large balcony and double sink bathroom! The strange part is the bathtub, small and about 3 feet high! Other than that, the food was great at the 3 reservation restaurants, but somewhat boring at the buffet. Be advised to... More

Having stayed at Riu Resorts in the past, and had a great time, we figured the Emerald Bay would be their flagship resort and is advertised as a 5 star. The location and hotel are beautiful but that's where my accolades end. Our 7 day vacation was Monday to Monday. The first few days were OK, the hotel was probably... More

Well, our honeymoon destination. We were so excited. We were upgraded to a Junior suite as the reg rooms were just small plain rooms. We got there and it was beautiful. Slow time so lots of room and excellent service! We got there on Monday. On Wednesday everything went really, really sour. Because this was the slow time, the hotel... More

I will tell you the complete truth!!!!!!!! Pro's and Con's Pro's....... Flying into MZE from Houston was smooth.. when we landed we had already purchased a pick up (which I recommend due to lots of people asking to take you places I wasn't to sure of) with Mazatlan Tour(http://www.mazatlantours.org)... Its a bit of a drive toward the hotel, you will... More
