My wife, I and our 20 yr old son and his girlfriend styed here Jun 27 - Jul 4. This was our 3rd Riu with the other 2 in Dominican Republic. We tried it because we got an amazing deal and had never been to Mazatlan. The Riu chain caters to families. If you want to complain about kids go... more

We have visited the Riu Emerald Bay, on June 21, for one week. The hotel and the rooms are very beautiful. All rooms have a real, nice ocean view and the balcony is respectable and private (around 8' x 10'). Food is good. The breakfast buffet is the best one. Real good juices and smoothies, plenty of fresh fruits, yummy... more

I stayed at RIU Emerald Bay from June 16th through the 23rd. Even though it had been open less than a month, everything looked great! Our check-in was handled quickly and very professionaly. I had a junior suite that was quite spacious. I had two separate balconies, with perfect views of the ocean and the pool areas. Before leaving on... more

We went from June13-20th. We got a really good price on our package which made it a good value, but there were a few issues. First I believe the food was mediocre at best. The hotel capacity appeared to be around 30%. There was no reason to have guests make reservations at the specialty restaurants. More than half of each... more

My wife and I stayed at the Riu Emerald Bay June 19 - 21. To sum up the experience, for such a beautiful property and location with such great amenities, employees, and service, our stay was way too short. Next time we'll stay longer. Having said that, note that I marked down "overall," "service," and "cleanliness" from "excellent" to "very... more

For a first time trip to Mexico, this hotel exceeded our expectations. We were picked up by Gusavo w/ Apple Vacations who pointed out all the sights and told us that there would be an orientation in the lobby at 9:15 the next morning. Ck-in was a bit slow since there was quite a few families there, but there was... more

I'm keeping this short and to the point: The Hotel: - Very large and beautiful. Our junior suite was "ok" and the ocean view was great. All rooms are ocean view rooms. - Free internet service only in the lobby and wifi signal is kinda weak unless you're next to the front desk area. - Pool seems dirty even after... more

Hotel had been open for only 4 days when we arrived. All personnel seemed fine for their job, however too large to be maintained overall.Too many kids and no adult pool which would be cleaner. more

Rather than rehash, please see "RIU here we come" in the Mazatlan forums. Overall, I would give the RIU a Mexican five star rating. Whatever the reasons, we felt the service, food quality, cleanliness, friendlieness, value and appearance were as good if not better than any resort we have been to in Mexico. more

this is a beautiful facility and probably would have been a lot more enjoyable if all the things we were led to believe about it were really true. First off: the air conditioning. While your room and certain restaurants were air onditioned, the huge and stunning lobby area (which is the only place you can use the wifi for free),... more
