This place had the rudest staff, the worst food and nastiest rooms of any all inclusive I've stayed in...It seems to be a hotel for the locals and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone used to American standards (I'm not talking American Hilton standards, I'm talking American motel 6 standards) more

This was our 2nd time in Ixtapa and we were short budget so we decided to stay in the Fontan, however, we can tell you there are definitely better short budget options than this one... Here's why: ROOMS: Sheets are not clean and smelled terrible (humid), not balcony -in the majority of the rooms-, the window only opens like 3... more

We were with the tour group Nolitours from Calgary Alberta. We had terrible flight times. The hotel even let us keep our rooms until 9 in the evening because our flight time home was 2:20 am at know extra charge to us. People we talked to at the airport who stayed at different hotels i.n Ixtapa had to vacate their... more

As you may have realized by reading the reviews here, Fontan is good and bad. A lot depends on chance; will you get a good room with a view of the beach, or a low-rate piece of crap that has unfinished drywall in the shower? It's pure luck. The hotel is careworn and needs repairs, but overall is fine. Cleaning... more

I checked into this resort February 14th and departed Feb. 28th, 2009. I found the rooms very nice and clean, great maid service and always super clean with nice little towel designs left in my room after the maids had been there. Of course I left a tip. If you want service leave a tip. I would suggests you bring... more

Absolutely wonderful 2 week vacation. Hotel is well maintained outside, the inside is clean, although the rooms are looking a little 'used' they are kept spotless by terrific maids who go that extra step to keep the room welcoming. A/C is terrific. Pillows need to be replaced, no fluff to them but beds comfy. Very large showers w/handicap rail, great... more

My husband & I just returned from Ixtapa where we stayed at the Fontan Resort. We enjoyed ourselves and were pleasantly surprised to find a resort that was 95% occupied by Canadians of a "mature" age (45 +). Food was typical Mexican buffet style @ 3* hotel. Property simple but very clean and maintained. Service was excellent and the staff... more

We stayed for 7 Days/nights at Fontan , we were pleasantly surprised after reading some of the negative comments we read from TA forums.Right across the street from the Market /Restaurants CHECK IN : the front desk was more then accommodating when we requested a room change ,any and all questions we asked were answered in clear English. Rooms :When... more

We stayed at the Fontan for a week mid January, and really have nothing too bad to say. The rooms were clean, the grounds were tidy and the place wasn't too packed. We did not get the all inclusive package, so I cannot comment on the quality of the food, or the entertainment. The beach, like at every other hotel... more

My husband and I really like this place. We met our whole family in Ixtapa, but we were the only ones staying at this hotel. The price was great, the hotel very clean. What I really liked about it is that it was very ethnic. There where a lot of Mexicans and Europeon's there, when I leave the country I... more
