Stopped here for lunch while staying at Poco Cielo a couple of doors down. The food was very good and so were the portions and the prices. Had a good margarita and my husband's Michelada was very tasty. I had shrimp with white wine, with fresh spinach, rice, and potatoes and came with a small bowl of black bean soup... More

Stopped for lunch on my way up to San Diego from Ensenada. Kind of a funky little place with a great view of the beach below. Started out with a classic Marguarita.....it was good, refreshing, a bit strong but I'm not complaining about that. Chips that were brought to the table were crisp corn tortillas. The ones that weren't burnt... More

This hotel has been my favorite place since I visited the restaurant for the first time 25 years ago and loved it. I always escape from stress of daily life in the city and drive down to La Fonda either by my self, with my best friends or my family. The beach is right in front of your room and... More

Delicious food. Beautiful coastline location. Funky rooms. Wonderful hosts. A quick trip across the border to this fun hotel is worth the effort! Glad that Joe and his wife has this place back! The bad comments are from the previous owner-- who ran it into the ground.

I first went to La Fonda in the late 70's with my high school sweetheart when La Fonda was about the only thing on this stretch of coast. Stopping in last week on my way up the Baja from Todos Santos I was pleasantly surprised to find the original owners back in charge and serving up fantastic food - langoustines!... More

My fiance and I went to La Fonda last weekend and we had the best time. We're from LA so it was so nice to have a quiet weekend away from the normal hustle and bustle of the city. We drove down and back (which was much easier than we anticipated - this was our first time driving to Mexico)... More

So we stayed at La Fonda this past weekend and had the most incredible time. WARNING, the previous owner that ran it into the ground still retains 3 rooms next door and calls it La Fonda, make sure you know where you are booking, make sure you are booking, Dymtri's La Fonda or else you will have issues! The pictures... More

I had dinner at La Fonda tonight and the restaurant has been moved back to its original location of several years ago and Dimitri himself is back! The food was wonderful and the service has returned to its former excellence.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Just as American-style Las Rocas has its staunch devotees, many are loyal to La Fonda, a place for people who truly want to get away from it all. The rustic rooms don't come with minibars, state-of-the-art TVs, or phones. What they do have is an adventuresome appeal unlike that of any other northern Baja coast resort. Relaxation and romance are the key words at this small hotel and restaurant, which opened in the 1950s and hasn't changed a whole lot since. (http://www.frommers.com) ... more   less
