We spent a week at The Old Gin House as part of a dive trip in early February. Very relaxing, comfortable and pleasant - from arrival to departure! Located in the lower city, you can walk to the public doc, or hike uphill to the upper city. The property is built into a hillside, so if you have mobility issues,... More

Husband and I spent a week on Statia for a dive trip and stayed at the Old Gin House Hotel. We are told that the Hotel is the nicest on the island and the location is beautiful. However, the hotel rooms are run down. The room we stayed in was filthy when we arrived. The floors were dirty, mold in... More

How much nicer could a restaurant or a hotel be? Cozy and welcoming, with a view by the ocean that cannot be beat, you will love it here -- whether dining (everything on the menu is terrific; kudos to the chef!) or staying here for a comfortable stay. My room overlooking the ocean was truly lovely and having a private... More

We didn't stay here but we went here for a drink. We wanted to have lunch but when we noticed the prices, we decided against it. Food in Statia is hardly ever fresh, which is something you can take into account when deciding on price-quality-choices.

Beautifully situated on the Caribbean side of St Eustatius. The well-appointed beachside terrace is the perfect place for cocktails and dinner at sunset. Good fresh food and friendly and attentive (new) management. The main part of the hotel is located in an 18th century cotton factory. The perfect place to stay for exploring the rich natural and cultural heritage of... More

Shame about the pool it was not clean and we did not dare to get in. The room was great nice big room as was the... More

We spent a week diving in Statia in August 2015. I knew going that it is a very small island with only about 80 hotel rooms available. Old Gin House is supposed to be the nicest hotel on the island. It is small, clean and ideally located if diving with Scubaaqua. We arrived on Sat eve 8/1/15 and the waitress... More

We had a lunch here and then came back for an evening meal. Both meals were very tasty and substantial portions - not budget range but good value for money. Very attentive host who was happy to give advice about where to visit on the island - go try it, you won't be disappointed!

My husband and I traveled to Statia for diving and a week of R&R and this was our first visit to the island and the hotel. The hotel manager met us that evening and took us immediately to our suite. The suite was perfect, A/C worked great, hot shower and clean and comfy bed. Small fridge with bottled water waiting... More

We were very much looking forward to visiting the Old Gin House. On arrival the place looks great! The receptionist was rather brusque and seemed incapable of smiling, however she did offer us an upgrade from garden to ocean view so no complaints there...... Until we got to the room..... The sink was blocked, the toilet bowl was stained and... More
