Stopped for just one night on our way down through France. It is slightly off the route, but very accessible from Cherbourg and what a wonderful place to arrive at - a "maison fort" with huge walls and an arched gateway into a peaceful, sunny, courtyard. The lady of the house, Sophie, welcomed us and remained the most attentive and... More

Staying with Sophie at Manoir de Coutainville was one of the most beautiful and wonderful experiences in France that we will forever remember. She is the most welcoming host and will do what she can to make you feel welcomed, relaxed and never wanted to leave. We will come back, Sophie!

We stayed 2 nights along with our nephew, wish it had been more. Sophie is an absolutely engaging host, full of energy, interesting anecdotes and excellent suggestions for touring and sight seeing. Her abilities in the kitchen were even more impressive, with delicious bread, preserves, pastries and the best scrambled eggs I have ever eaten. Evening meals were even better,... More

Four of stayed for three nights at the Manoir not knowing what to expect. As soon as we were greeted at the door by Sophi we knew all was well. The kind and generous hospitality was superb with attention to our well being paramount. Breakfast and dinner could not have been better using local produce of the finest quality and... More

We have stayed 5 super nights with Miss Sophi recently and we can not wait to go back. Two families with five children not an easy task to host but Miss Sophi is an excellent host. The kids loved her as well as the whole manoir that is perfectly maintained and taken care of. Very clean, and it has a... More

We have had the pleasure of the Manoir de coutainville twice now. The first time when our cat died and Penny needed cheering up. We wandered into a tourist office and asked if they could find something for the weekend. We could not have found a more amiable host. Sophie speaks fluent English, Italian and, of course, french. She is... More

This was a first trip to this part of France and by accident we fell in love with the village but most of all with the wonderfull little hotel we stayed in. It is a small gem with only four rooms but of very high quality and an atmosphere rarely found in France. Sophie, the owner is very open and... More
