We feel so lucky to have found this wonderful B&B. We were on our way down to the Dordogne and needed a break in the middle so decided to spend a night in Saint Saens. The room we had was absolutely charming and very comfortable. It was also extremely clean, fresh and felt well cared-for. The communal rooms were also... More

Highly recommended, a superbly friendly welcome & host - in a lovely house situated in a great town. We had the most perfect French long bank holiday weekend. The charming little town of Saint Saens is so easy to drive to from the EuroTunnel, it took a really pleasant hour and a half. My husband, 18mth old and I were... More

Sans Saens is a great wee village which has a great wee B&B run, designed and renovated by the truly wonderful and kind Jean Marie. Go for the room at the top of the house, it's huge and even features a bed which you can raise and lower! Breakfast is croissants, bread, tea and coffee along with Jean Marie's homemade... More

A 6yr old, a 4yr old and parents had a brilliant welcome from a true Frenchman with superb hospitality and french traditions. If you want to see how the french 'live' and give your children a taste of true France this is the place to do it - for one night or a few. With great local attractions and marvellous... More

We spent 2 very comfortable nights with Jean Marie at this interesting house. We thoroughly enjoyed his company over our tasty evening meals and we appreciated his humour and anecdotes. Our children(aged 10 & 14) were shocked when he cooked snails for our meal (at their Dad's request!) and are still recounting the tale to their friends! So much better... More

An excellent overnight stop over spot. A clean and characterful B&B with an excellent host. Used it on outbound and return journeys and will have no hesitation using it again if travelling the same route in future. Highly recommended.

We stopped off for one night on the way to our holiday destination and the same on our return. Jean Marie is simply the perfect host, nothing is too much trouble and he made us feel very welcome, even making our 10 month old feel special. Saint Saens is a beautiful village and the bed and breakfast is very traditional,... More

We had a great couple of days with Jean Marie and heartily recommend a stop here. The town is charming with nice restaurants, though their opening hours are erratic in August. The church is pretty and the stained-glass windows tell the story of traditional crafts and tasks in the region. Jean Marie is great to chat to but doesn't force... More

We only stayed for one night at Saint Saens but it was really nice and relaxing. The little village was cute and the hospitality of mr Blondel at the B&B du dr Vassaux really made our day. Due to some communication problems the next day, he even drove us the 30 kilometers to Dieppe! That just doesn't happen so often...Jean-Marie was... More
