Stayed from 24-27 August. Had room 7 a family room. Room adequate, clean, and a newly refurbished shower room. The sheets and towels etc were clean, and overall the room sufficed. However,Bob, if you read this for goodness sake get a decent mattress for the double bed.It was so noisy as to be unbelievable. Don't spoil the ship for a pennyworth... More

We took two rooms here one for us and for our kids, with a popup bed so all three could share the room. My overall impression was that it needs someone to take better care of the housekeeping. There was an untidy pile of wood at the back of the car park and the air of shabbiness follows you in... More

We stayed here for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding locally. Rooms were a good size and clean and the en suite bathrooms were fine. I have never before stayed anywhere where the tea/coffee facilities were strictly timed and only offered in paper cups. Odd. The breakfast service was a little odd too. Despite coming downstairs a little... More

My friend and I stayed for three nights. This is a homely hotel and bar, We were made very welcome - Bob picked us up from the station and his son dropped us back there on our return, a really first class service. The breakfast was delicious and kept us going the whole day. Also, we had two evening meals... More

Had a family meal in Gunnislake and went here. Do not be deceived by the outside- the food and hospitality were great. About 10 fish dishes on the specials board- a superb range of special dishes for vegetarians . Great wooden paneled bar area with great beers. Well worth the visit.

We arrived at the Tavistock Arms after a long day's driving and the first problem was avoiding nails in our tyres from the debris in the car park. We were reminded that the car park was free of charge however. We then entered through an unwelcoming doorway area into a dark and dingy bar and I was uncomfortable giving my... More

On arrival car park was a yard with rubbish, and not though out, ( this is a free for all and the last one in be prepared to move it) A welcoming gesture was "its free". On entering dimly light bar in the pub ( the only light was from the TV and the slot machine in the hallway). The... More

Arrived on a Sunday afternoon.Small car park which might be an issue if you have a large vehicle. The Hotel was shut and locked up with a note left to call a number (minus the dialling code which could have been a problem) to gain access. After a 5 minute wait we were shown into a front facing room with very comfy... The Pros - Free Parking and central Gunnislake Bed was bumpy and probably cost £80 from Argos. They seemed more concerned with locals in the pub than running a hotel. All food seemed to be deep fat fried...everything. Wifi didn't work. It's 2013 but the rooms felt like 1970. Wouldn't stay there again or recommend. Unless you want back pain... More

Thanks for your review. our beds are produced by Myers, just look at their website and you will see the quality they provide. Our rooms were refurbished in 2010 to give a light modern feel with stylish light fittings and the bathrooms are the equivalent of those in a 5 star hotel. Nobody else had trouble using the Wi-Fi so... More
