Chose this for a pub lunch for 14 people after a country walk. We waited 1 hr 20 mins for our food during which time no one came to tell us there would be a delay. When we asked, we were repeatedly told it would be another 10-15 mins. When the food did finally arrive it was poor...everything was over-cooked... More

I went here for a meal with some friends, but after ordering a drink we decided not to stay and ended up going somewhere else. The dining area looked quite nice, but unfortunately the bar area was full of young children who were running around and being quite noisy. The parents, who seemed to be locals, weren't at all interested... More

We took the kids and grandparents for the three course Sunday roast and it was excellent value for money at £13.50. Lots of veggies and plenty of meat and huge Yorkshires. We paid half this for the children but their portions were the same size as the adult's. The food was good and the young staff were very pleasant and... More

Popped in for a light lunch on a Saturday. Was not busy but took 50 minutes for nachos, a sandwich and a jacket potato to turn up. When they did the chips with the sandwich were cold and the salad with the jacket potato was hot (hot cucumber is not good!). The jacket potato had so much butter you could... More

Visited The Hardwicke Arms after being invited by a wedding party. A large car park and plenty of signs to point you to the right doors. Very clean and interesting house, lots of rooms and a very large dining room. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The Sunday lunch was very good and a good price for the amount of... More

Recently the public areas have undergone modest refurbishment - a lick of paint and a new carpet. However, in the main this establishment needs a complete and extensive renovation. Usually a badly tuned local radio station is heard in the bar area which is detrimental to the atmosphere. The dining room has been moved from the rather quaint panelled room... More

We stayed at the Hardwicke Arms on the basis of a recommendation - the hotel was in the process of being redecorated - the rooms were ideal for what we needed - what i can recommend highly is the full English breakfast in the morning and the very friendly, helpful staff

Stayed here for my wedding at a location nearby on the 8th August. Cannot praise the staff highly enough, so helpful and accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay here. Breakfast was lovely and so was the food we had on one evening. We block booked virtually all the rooms and nobody had any complaints whatsoever. I would... More

The exterior of this old coaching inn and the décor of ground floors gave a good impression, sadly this was not matched once ascending the stairs to the accommodation levels (worn and tried carpet with a vague odour of pets and smattering of cobwebs). Equally the rooms that our party occupied were far from comfortable or equipped consistently to a... More
