We and our Grandchildren stayed in the tree house here, while our daughter and her husband stayed in the main house; it was such an amazing experience that we came back 3 years later with our grand children and stayed for 5 days. The tree house overlooks a lake with heritage species ducks, and there is a salt water pool... More

From the moment we arrived at Chateau Gauthie we were in awe of this very special gem we had been so lucky to find on the internet. We were greeted by Stephane who was extremely friendly, courteous and informative. We were shown to the "love nest" tree house, it was almost dusk and walking down the bark covered path, fairy... Beautiful chateau in lovely grounds. Stephane and Florence were the perfect hosts and we were made to feel totally at home. By day two we felt like family! This is essentially a B&B though one night Stephane treated us to the most delicious supper. Breakfast was a feast and probably the best coffee I had in France! Our bedroom was... More

We came to Chateau Gauthier for a 4 night stay with our three kids. We had a room in the main building as well as a tree house for 2 nights. Location It is <20 minutes drive from Bergerac and 2 minutes from the really pretty medieval town of Issigeac so great facilities within easy reach. The Chateau itself is... More

There is so much on offer at Chateau Gauthie. Whether you want a relaxing time in the French countryside, a base for exploring the Dordogne, or a feast of different activities on the doorstep (or some of all three), this is the place for you. The hospitality is also first class. The buildings have been added to from the 15th... More

We spent a week in this fabulous chateau where we were treated to the fantastic hospitality of the owners Stephane and Florence. The grounds are beautiful and the pool and hot tub perfect for relaxing. The wildlife in the grounds was interesting and the surroundings so peaceful.. The breakfast was delicious and Stephan's dinners are great . He is a... More

My daughter and I stayed in one of the treehouses in the beautiful gardens of chateau Gauthie, the accommodation and hospitality of Stephan and family is simply fantastic, such beautiful tranquil surroundings and warm welcoming hosts, fairy lights light your way to the treehouse at night, the hot tub is like heaven with a view of the lake and forest... We stayed here for three nights to attend a wedding nearby. The chateau has been extensively renovated in a simple country style. If you are looking for full on sophistication this is not the place for you. However, if you want ambience, tranquility, peace, beautiful countryside and total relaxation then this is the place. Set in acres of informal garden... More

We are just back after 2 weeks in the larger treehouse. It exceeded all our expectations. The treehouse itself offers everything a family needs, with a huge deck overlooking the beautiful lake. We spent most of our time out there, watching the pair of kingfishers, eating and drinking, and able to see our two kids (5 and 7) play around... More

Less than half an hour's pleasant drive from Bergerac Airport, and within easy reach of Issigeac, this Chateau has now become the mainstay of our French trips. We've just made our third visit - the hottest yet. A morning swim before breakfast; reading and snoozing on the high platform in the trees; a nightcap on the far balcony overlooking the... More
