We couldn't believe how lovely this place was. We stayed in the 4 bed dorm room and had it to ourselves, Beds very comfy with reading lights, wardrobe for hanging, very clean and comfortable. Lovely bathroom adjacent to our room with separate loo also very clean. We appreciated the free tea making facilities upstairs too! Spa well worth it for... More

Stayed for 3 nights while exploring the marlborough sounds. Couldn't fault the hostel. Stayed in a double with adjacent bathroom, facilities were very clean. Darryl was very helpful and it was great to be able to use the single kayaks for free. The free spa use with the room and movie rental are a nice touch too. Can't believe it's... More

We stayed here en route to the Queen Charlotte track. The friendly owner discussed our plans and drove us to a starting point on the track which gave us a beautiful 4 hour walk back to Anakiwa more suited to our middle-aged abilities than our original plan would have been. If the weather had been suitable he would have transported... More

We stayed there only for one night, the hosts were very nice and accommodating, we took a double en-suite room which was bright, clean and super comfortable, much better than most hostels offer in every aspect. The kitchen was great and well equipped. I took a peek at the 4-bed dorm room and those beds looked extremely spoiling :) They... More

Stayed here when we finished walking the Queen Charlotte Track. It is a very homely place to stay and the owners are very friendly. The hostel is extremely clean and comfortable and it was great to have all the home comforts after our 5-day walk. They even pick your bags up from the jetty for you if your luggage is... More

We really enjoyed our stay here. The reason I decided to book this lodge was that they offered free kayaks. The owner was really helpful throughout the stay organizing breakfast for us as we didn't yet have a chance to go shopping and also changing his plans to accommodate our request to be picked up with his boat later during... we were able to finish our walk of the track with curry, wine, a soak in the spa and some movies - not bad! The Hosts were wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a bit of a trek to the bathroom, but we did have our own wee deck and a custom baby gate to... More

I stayed a couples of days in Anakiwa with my girlfriend and we loved it! Great location at Marlborough Sounds. Great walks, nice lake with lot's of activities. Great if you just wanna get away from all. The owner upgraded our room as it was quiet and it was the best value for money I had in New Zealand. He... More

I have stayed at Anakiwa Lodge the last three years in a row. It's a great place to hang out if you want the ultimate getaway. There is loads to do and kayaking on the Sounds is definitely a highlight! I also walked part of the Queen Charlotte track as a day trip to another bay and last year, my... More

We stayed one night at the end of Queen Charlotte. Got the double deluxe for a family of four. The owners were terrific and very friendly. The room was lovely and inviting, and we enjoyed the large DVD collection and free jacuzzi. My only complaint is the distance between the room and the bathroom, which makes it annoying to go... More
