Having made it up the St Bernard Pass in a Renault Clio where was the presentation ceremony, the flags, the anthems? Actually there were two flags - this hotel is just on the other side of the Italian border coming from Switzerland - in fact, it is possible to walk back and have a coffee in a Swiss café -... More

It's a beautiful hotel and area. The staff was outstanding! The food was the best. We loved our room, and it was very quiet. The people at the hotel were just wonderful and welcoming. They made our stay perfect. We highly recommend this hotel and plan to return soon.

Two days into a trek that would lead us on foot across the Alps to Lake Geneva my travelling companion Charles and I decided to stay here for the night - finding it a little cheaper and much more welcoming than the more famous Hospice. Definitely the right choice! It was wonderfully comfortable, the wood-panelled room was cosy and the... More

We stayed at the beginning of the season. The staff where very friendly and made sure we were comfortable. The room was spacious and warm. The dinner was fantastic. We felt like we had lived like kings. The bread and croissants for breakfast were straight out of the oven. The coffee was great. I would highly recommend staying here. View... More

We arrived early afternoon after a hike in bad weather. We were cold and wet, and the staff literally ran around to take care of us, making sure we would get warm and dry as quickly as possible. We got a cozy corner room with windows facing two different directions, and I am sure the view would have been stunning... More

If you are looking for a base for hikes in the Grand St. Bernard area (e.g. Lacs de Fenêtre) with decent rooms and delicious food, then look no further. If you just happen to go through the pass, then also consider staying here for a short rest. Take a stroll in the evening - the place is eerily tranquil. The... More

We stayed in this mountain hotel for one night on out trip over the Gran San Bernardo pass. It is located right on the Italian-Swiss border, a little lower than the highest point of the pass, just by the lake with a great view of Grand Combin. The road is winding and steep, so naturally it is open only in... More

At 2469 meters altitude you will be assured of fresh air, great views and a chance to join the mile-high club without ever leaving terra firma. Atop the Great St Bernard Pass, which has seen Julius Caesar and Napoleon cross here before you and I, lies Hotel Italia, a perfect overnight stay when travelling to Italy from NW Europe or... More
