I visited the Highwayman pub for a birthday lunch with friends. The food was good however I was less than happy with the attitude of the manager. He was very rude and grumpy. I can safely say that not one of the 12 of us will be visiting this place again.

Four of us stayed here one night as part of a cycle ride from Derby in the UK to Monte Carlo, and this was our first night. The beer garden in the sun was lovely, with the canal running alongside it, and sitting there after a day’s cycling was great. However – this is a hotel at the cheaper end... More

It is what it is... Built in the 1700's. A basic pub with rooms, some of which are small and some are fairly large. Everything creaks ! Furnishings are old and basic, the plumbing is something else and the shower pulsates between hot and warm. Room cleanliness is basic and could easily be improved on, but we had a good... More

Even the staff don't have a very high opinion of the rooms, I was told I was lucky as I had one of the good ones. I was upstairs in room 2 and initial impressions were OK. Good room furnishing, big tv, plenty of tea, coffee, chocolate and biscuits. However, the double glazing had failed causing a big opaque patch... More

I stayed at the Highway to take my commercial pilot exams at OAA (Oxford Aviation Academy) the location is ideal if you need a short walk to the airport for any reasons. As this was the first time away for my age 18!, the Staff made me very comfortable every evening when I needed to study, they had a lovely... More

This is a bit of a tatty pub with rooms. However, the rooms were clean and quiet. The plumbing is a bit odd. The food is good and so is the beer. The breakfast is good. Beware it takes a long time to get into Oxford by bus! It is convenient for drivers. Good value for money especially if you... More

The landlord of the Highwayman Hotel told me literally: "I guess you must have been completely mistaken when you chose this place. You must have been aware that you did not book a hotel but a bed and breakfast which is an Indian takeaway!" First of all, should you travel on Sunday without a car, you will be lost. There... More

This was an over night stop to drop our daughter at Oxford. Good points : Breakfast was good, location was good, some staff were friendly. Bad points : after travelling 175 miles, the first thing I wanted was a shower - the shower did not work (even when 'fixed' by the manager). The shower room smelled a bit too !.... More

Excellent location if you need to go to Oxford airport but other than that there wasn't much to say! Indifferent staff who made me feel like I was a nuisance at breakfast and actually started clearing my table while I was still eating. Room unbearably hot and reasonably clean but the shower was hopeless and hardly worked. Room over the... More

Stayed here last year as it's very close to the airport. This time I was in a single room, quite small, no much space to hang things up. Reasonable priced. Bed was very squeaky but comfortable, room was lovely and warm. Digital TV with tea/coffee facilities, free Wi-Fi worked fine this time too :-) Breakfast was very nice although opened... More
