After many many years since my last visit a nice surprise it had not changed a bit,not even a coat of paint, which was good in my eyes,we had an open sandwich (a first for me )it was delicious, will go back again soon, only downside could have been more friendly.

True English country pub with its thatched roof and roses in the garden. Good food, beautifully presented and such friendly staff. We had a couple of open sandwiches that were great value for money, beautifully presented and made for a perfect summer lunch sitting out in the front garden in such a tranquil setting. This is a ' must visit... More

The pub looks gorgeous from the outside in a quiet little village not far from the Ridgeway which we were walking for three days. Stopped for an evening meal on Sunday night. Whilst we didn't stay inside for long first impressions were that it didn't fit with the look of the pub from the outside, it was a bit too... More

Good food, a very decent welcome and a great location, but why oh why do they let themselves down on such simple basic features, we were given dirty, tattered and torn menus and even after making a comment, nothing was done. The men's washroom, well it's beyond me why such a place has a dirty smelly toilet facility, no hot... More

Went here twice, happened upon it for lunch after a walk on the hill. Two sandwiches we had were lovely so we had to try it for dinner the next week. Dinner was amazing, one of the best meals out we had had in England. I had the lamb which was so tasty and tender. My partner had the board... More

Stayed for one night, picturesque hamlet rather than village. Rooms are in a separate building, comfortable, quiet, great breakfast, friendly staff (bathrooms are up a staircase so not so good if you have mobility problems). Looks like a small pub but when you go in v roomy with lovely back garden with pizza oven. Enjoyed dinner, excellent wine, good service.... More

I'd been slightly over-eager and walked 23 or more miles by the time I got the White Horse so my expectations were high. Great room, great service, great beers, fantastic food. The night I stayed was pizza night - cooked in a wood-burning oven. Just what I needed! I slept really well and was ready to launch myself at another... More

Just had an excellent breakfast at the end of a four day stay. If you are looking for a quiet and picturesque pub, with modern room, top food and a friendly host in a quiet rural location then this is it. Have used it as a business stay to escape the bustle of Swindon and rate the entire experience as... More

Recently visited the Inn for the second time. We had the sole special, duck entree and fish and chips. The sole was beautifully presented and cooked but the tiny bones made it tricky to enjoy. The fish and chips delicious. My duck entree promised a confit leg and seared breast. The breast was good as were my mash and veg,... More

We went to The White Horse last Saturday with a group of twelve friends,we had booked a table but it was not really large enough to hold all of us in comfort. We had two children with us and the waitress had to be pushed to offer any children's meals, the food when it came was superb even though on a...
