We found this AA 2star hotel in the middle of the small village of Embleton to be first class. We stayed for 5 nights, the food was excellent with a varying menu each evening, the room very spacious with good en suite facilities and comfortable and the staff were always very friendly and helpful. It is an excellent base to... More

The Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel is where I stayed every year when young with my family for our annual vacations. It holds a special place in my heart. Now owned by a different family, it still retains its charm, warmth and great location. The staff go out of their way to ensure that you are comfortable and have what you need,... More

We stayed here for one week in 2010 prior to taking a trip to Europe. It was a most relaxing vacation in a good hotel. This is an older hotel which has been upgraded over the years. My wife's great grandfather actually operated the hotel in the 1800's so it has a lot of history. We found the staff very... More

Made a booking two days before arrival. No room in hotel and had one of the purpose built cottages across the road. Accomodation was well planned , scrupiously clean and well equipped Went across to the hotel for breakfast and dinner. Breakfasts were well cooked and adequate. Dinner on the first three nights was excellent but sadly let down by... More

We stayed for three nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and were very happy with every aspect of this hotel. Since there were three of us, we had two rooms (a double and a single) and both were very comfortable and spotless. We took a standard double (village view rooms attract a small supplement) but it was still... More

We live locally but this was the first occasion we visited the hotel for lunch. We did not have particularly high expectations but I am pleased to say they were definitely exceeded. Decor is cosy but traditional although I did notice a few cobswebs in the dining room whilst waitng for the menus. Service was a tad slow considering the... More

Just returned from a two night break at the Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel. This is my second visit to the hotel, this time we opted to stay in one of the police houses opposite the main hotel. We were allocated a two bedroomed house, and it couldnt have been better. You can do your own cooking if you choose to do so .We ate in... More

March 2012: Me and my partner came here for an evening meal recently. The food was fantastic! I am Coeliac and I could not believe how well they accomodated my allergy. They had Gluten free bread on stand-by (it was a joy to have!) and they also were able to offer me Gluten free chocolate pudding! A fantastic change from... More

This small family run hotel is spotlessly clean and staff provide excellent service at all times. Food is varied, well presented and of the highest quality. This quiet delightful hotel is one that we shall continue to visit. Its green tourist award is very well deserved. More
