We've stayed at this hotel twice. Both times we had a wonderful dinner and excellent accommodation. Whilst being in the centre of beautiful Coulon the hotel is very quiet. Breakfast is a buffet but one of the best with a good choice, should not be rushed. We will definitely stay again as this hotel is good value for money.

We stayed at Le Central for three nights on our way from Royan up to Saint Malo at the end of our and were very impressed. Our room was spotless, and beautifully decorated and overlooking the courtyard. We ate in the restaurant the first night and the meal was excellent. We couldn't fault the staff at all both in the... We stayed here for one night on our way through France and were given one of the garden rooms at the back. The rooms were beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, we particularly liked the terrace where we enjoyed a glass of wine in the sunshine overlooking the garden. The room was very quiet and we got a great night's sleep.... More

We have just returned to the Charente after a two night stay in this hotel, despite it being the two night's that their own restaurant is closed, which we knew, we had a thoroughly enjoyable time and found a selection of places to eat in Coulon. The hotel offered good accomodation, first class housekeeping (it was spotless and the bedroom... More

Hotel Le Central is one of our two favourite stops when driving south from the Channel Tunnel. Without allowing for stops the drive takes about six and a half hours. We usually stay in the garden rooms which are very pleasantly decorated and very comfortable; but on the occasions when we have stayed in other rooms these have been just... More

The hotel has benefited from comprehensive recent refurbishment, to make it an impressive example of how a Logis de France can smarten itself up. Our room was fairly compact, although spotless and stylish, and wifi weak in the room itself; but the two things that make Le Central outstanding are the attractive, bustling restaurant (worth the €30 main menu price);... Hotel is located in the centre of town surrounded by other restaurants and not far from the waterway. Warm, efficient welcome and food well presented but not particularly inspired. Excellent for one night stay. Rooms are spacious and cosily furnished. Staff are helpful and friendly. Good standard of cleanliness throughout, but rather let down by the mould beside the bath... Everything is faultless here, for the price, type of hotel and the one night stay I enjoyed. The renovated building is very nicely arranged, a fine restaurant and charming village. I would look forward to returning.

We loved this hotel in this very attractive town whose waterway location draws people from all over so expect it to be busy in season. We were there in August but had booked in advance (How smug is that?). The hotel is spacious and spotless with a lovely inner courtyard part of the restaurant. On our second night we booked... More

We had eaten in the excellent restaurant several years ago and promised ourselves that we would stay here one day. We had 4 nights in one of the garden rooms, which was lovely. The restaurant was as good as we remembered it being and the breakfast was delicious offering a wide range, including a fabulous fruit bowl.
