1st time visiting Fair Isle, stayed two and a half days. FIBO staff are warm welcoming and very helpful. Bedrooms are en suite and very comfortable. We were well catered for with regards to food, communal dining which gives people opportunity to mix and share stories etc and coffee/tea always available. Great setting, don't need to be interested in birds... More

Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms. Fabulous location, with breathtaking views from the large and comfortable lounge. Excellent meals--very tasty, lots of variety, healthy stuff as well as "homebakes", and they cater to dietary requirements. Friendly, very sociable atmosphere, and you can be active, or just relax. The staff were very mixed--the administrator was very helpful and competent, but the wardens were... More

I stayed here with a group of friends for a week in the summer. What a magical place! I can't praise it highly enough. In order to get to Fair Isle, I had to travel across by boat because the planes were not flying. This is not recommended! The boat bobbed around like a cork on the high seas and... More

On arrival, you get collected by Observatory staff and delivered to your accommodation - and what a great place to stay it is. I was expecting hostel - it's more hotel. Comparable with a Premier Inn... with loads more. Rooms were bright and airy, and I was lucky enough to have a window overlooking the sea. My group of non-birders... More

Fabulous experience for birders, walkers, and those who want to get away from it all. Surprisingly comfortable lodging, excellent food and drink and, interesting fellow travelers and staff. Our return flight was delayed 8 hours due to fog allowing more time to explore the island. Best to assume there might be travel delays.

I was on Fair Isle for a photographic trip. The Bird Observatory is a large modern building, spacious and bright inside. The seating area in the lounge is very comfortable with large leather sofas and other seats. There are tea, including fruit and herbal teas and coffee making facilities, so that you can help yourself at any time. Hot chocolate... More

We spent 3 days there as a big birthday treat for me and Teresa., we share the same birthday(unbeknown to the team). We had a very comfortable room with a panoramic view of the cliffs, sea and grassland of sheep. Everyone was very welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. It was lovely to be part of the team as... More

We were booked into another B&B on Fair Isle for 2 nights, but due to a problem there the Bird Observatory agreed to accommodate us at very short notice. This then extended to 4 nights due to fog preventing flights in or out of Fair Isle. All this was achieved with no fuss and excellent communication. What's more, we were... More
