Booked a night here after being let down by another hotel,it turned out to be the best place we stayed in on our recent trip round Scotland.David and Mary were the perfect hosts and the dinner was first class,as was the breakfast. The room was large and very comfy. We will most certainly be staying here again next time we visit the... What a wonderful place/hotel! The excellent food/accommodation could only be beaten by the most generous hosts I've ever met! The service was unbelievably good/friendly. I'm recommending this place to everyone, family/couples, perfect stay! I'm sure I'll be back even this year! Cheers Rico

I am writing as a restaurateur and someone who knows Mary and David of The Steadings. They are not in the least bit child unfriendly, in fact whenever my granddaughter visits I always take her in so they can see her. I am sorry that they seemed that way but this almost certainly comes from their booking policy. Personally I... More

Surprised to see this restaurant gets such high reviews, ate here years ago and it was great... The new owners have let this slip big style. Very unchild friendly owners, do they not realise how many people travel with Children? "Sorry we are fully booked" despite a nearly empty restaurant. "Is it because of the children"? Owner indicated they did... More

The good reviews are from the past when this place was really, really good. Three of us ate in the restaurant, what a mistake! The owners are barking, the food bizarre, the vegetable side dishes were raw, chicken in sauce came with 2 frozen hash browns! Could not believe the price when I went to pay the bill, grossly over-priced.... More

Best hotel by far during our Scotland round trip. The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere, which means finding it is a little adventurous, but it gives you the chance to discover the greatness of the Scottish nature. The couple running the hotel were very friendly and helpful and our children were treated like kings. We had a... More

I have spent 2 nights in this very cosy Hotel. Wonderful charming Lady make you feel at home. Excellent food and nice rooms in the appendix. The only weak point has been, the wetness in the bathroom but it could have been related to the rainy weather of that period.

So far the Steadings was the best hotel we've been during our tour through Scotland. The welcome is really hearly and warm. The family-run hotel itself has a special feeling as well: cosy and snuggly, not like the other big hotels owned by big hotel groups. We had a very nice and big room which was tidy and clean. The... This was a fantastic hotel and well worth the stay. The owner/opperators are so friendly that you feel like you are back home with your family. Everthing has a personal touch and the tiniest details are taken care of. The best nights stay in years.
