We spent a very pleasant overnight stop here. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. We spent some time in the lovely sitting room, chatting with David and looking out of the picture windows at the wildlife and the sea. David was welcoming and knowledgeable. Breakfast was superb, and the dog was lovely

Just returned from a magical visit to Darven Cottage.Setting is second to none, right on Sannox beach! We had a really warm welcome and our room was lovely. We had our own bathroom with all quality toiletries. Breakfast was brilliant and no grease in sight. Fruit was ripe and sweet and toast was from quality bread. Will be back for... More

Popped over to Arran on the weekend. Had not long arrived from Australia to enjoy a few weeks of Scottish winter. I love Scottish winters. There's something about the driving wind and rain battering violently against the side of the house that I find strangely relaxing, especially staying in Darven Cottage! Unfortunately, the weather was quite mild and mellow, but... More

I went to Edinburgh for school last year and getting to visit Arran was the highlight of that experience. Me and a few friends stayed at David´s place for a weekend and it was brilliant. He was an incredibly gracious host, a staggeringly good cook, and excellent company. The accomodations were charming and warm, the dogs were a blast to... More

Lovely welcome from friendly hosts David and Carole in their cottage and garden which extends down to the beach. It was great to watch the ducks, hens, small birds and squirrels being busy from the family lounge where you eat and relax with the dogs and cats. The bedroom was comfortable, though small and was without TV or tea-making facilities... More

Firstly, many thanks for taking the trouble to review your recent stay, I have to say, however, I was taken aback when I read certain elements of your crit and the category ratings, which appear to be in stark contrast to virtually all our feedback on this site over the past few years. The markings and observations which particularly puzzled... More

We felt very comfortable at the Darven house. Besides the incredible breakfast - I am still longing for the black pudding- the bonus were the two lovely dogs which we could take for a pre-breakfast walk. The location was wonderful and we were hosted with the greatest hospitality. We surely intend to come back!

Where to start....Darven cottage is such a special place to visit and stay. David persuaded us to stay for two nights and we're so glad we did. He makes such an effort, the little touches are numerous, generous and thoughful. I won't list them here to save the surprises for you when you go! The rooms are lovely and clean... More

A lovely, relaxing stay with beautiful views and welcoming hosts. Food was plentiful, fresh and superbly cooked and presented. Breakfast even arrived with its own cabaret - red squirrels running the gauntlet of chickens to get at the bird feeders! A great place to stay when touring the beautiful island.

We stayed here with David and Carole for two nights. The welcome was warm the room very comfortable as was our sons room too. The breakfast well we did not need to eat all day!! Everything at Darven Cottage was super and the views of the sea were a bonus. No negatives whatsoever. We hope to return for another spoiling!!

This is a special place. For the 2 nights we were here it was as though we were part of the family. Taking Darven dogs for walks on the beach, sitting around the campfire at night. This is no ordinary B&B, more like visiting your favourite relatives. Location is fantastic, right on the beach, and next to the coastal path... More
