I have spent there 4 nights with my husband, we were in Loire for visiting Castles by motorbike. The staff is really adorable and kind, rooms are comfortable and spacious. Breakfast is tasty and plenty. We had dinner there twice: so good!! The chef is a magician and cooks with love in a very tasteful way. I hope to come... More

Beautiful nature around the hotel, very nice breakfast, a bit expensive restaurant. Rooms need refurbishment. We had excelent bathroom, but that of our friends was quite small. The staff is very nice and friendly.

A lovely building but requires a little modernisation internally. Food in the restaurant is excellent, definitely have dinner there at least once. Pool is clean and nice but a little short for lengths.

We stayed in several hotels on our holiday and this was by far the best. Although the accommodation was on the basic side we were in an old Chateau with a huge room with seating table etc and the shower room was clean and modern. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, spoke exceptional English, and couldn't do enough. The... More

The château is in a very peaceful & relaxing setting. The staff were very welcoming & hospitable. The restaurant/food was excellent (make sure you reserve a table the dining room is quite small). On the minus side, we had booked 2 standard rooms which are all on the 2nd floor with quite a narrow staircase if you have lots of... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our night at the Chateau. It was charming and I loved the interior with all its quirkiness. The staff were so welcoming and really made a difference. They did everything they could do to make our stay perfect. Food was fabulous and local wine superb. Loved every minute. The cockerels crowing early were a bit of a... More

We stayed in the castle for three days with our 2 year old son. Our main reason for coming here is the food. Every evening we enjoyed the 'menu de chef', every dish was superb. Great combination of flavours, accompanied with lovely (local) wines. Nice relaxation times at the pool. And great base for visiting a view of the many... More

We stayed here for two nights 26th/27th June, what a lovely place, the wecome was warm, the room, spacious and the food in the restaurant was superb, being vegetarian and really quite picky I was catered for without any problem or fuss and it was all delicious. The surroundings are peacefull and ideal for getting away from it all, our only... More

The location is good is it is close to Chenonceau and the services by the hotel staff are very pleasant and efficient. It would be a great experience if you would love to experience staying in a real chateau. The decors at common areas are fantastic (chic & modern), however I would suggest the same kind of decors in the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Once, the Vallagon property was part of the Chenonceau estate and was then called “Les Drageonnieres”.The building of the castle took place in the 16th century as a little castle for two “fires” (residence for the family). In the 19th century a rich Bourgeois, Mr. Rance, would like to settle here and built the recent house in 1851 with stones of Bourré, surrounded by forest and vineyards. He has installed a wine press in the barn, dating from 1814 and 1825 and has completed the ensemble by building stables in 1864, a barn in 1866 and a little house called “Vendangeuse” in 1867.All buildings were made out of stone of Bourré, her gates marked with pink stone creates an ensemble of architectural harmony.During the 1st world war the property was prepared as a recovery place for evacuated American soldiers. ... more   less
