A nice simple review.Had a lovely meal with wine.No starters but all had main course and sweets.Everyone was delighted with the food.Presentation was excellent and we had a lovely evening. We all had different mains and different sweets and all agreed that their course was perfect as was evident form the empty plates.

13 people went for party night at £26 per head, after being served the starter which was fine, the main course was shocking, most people received 4 slices of beef later end of table received 2 slices, the pudding that was served to my wife being chocolate fudge cake, was a disgrace, after complaining to owner i was ambushed by... My partner and I went here for two nights running,on our first visit we just popped in for a drink before going on to Anstruther. The barman was great and ordered us a taxi, the drinks were very reasonable and we wished we had eaten there as the restaurant we chose in Anstruther was awful. On our second night we went to the... I would definitely recommend the mayview hotel for the brilliant selection of food and kind bar staff they're is a part for sleeping over but we did not stay. As I have already said the food was delicious both me and my partner had steak pie it was very good.

We found the Mayview a comfey hotel with pleasant staff and good food. The rooms were comfey and clean and the staff very helpful. Did not know what to expect of the food and were nicely surprised at how good it was; nicely cooked with decent portions - the smoked mussels are worth mentioning as they were delicious. The menu... ordered the mussels for lunch, not only was the portion extremely small for £6.00, they were over MICROWAVED . when I made a complaint, expecting some sort of reduction in the bill, I was told oh they are local and we cook them like that - not exactly explaining why they were overcooked. I did not receive anything off the... More

My family have had a caravan in St Monans for the last 80 years and I have been visiting there since I was only 4 months old (I am now 34). I admit though that since the age of 18 when I used to go into the Mayview with friends whilst on holiday, I have rarely been into the Mayview.... More

Went to eat at the harbor but the fish restaurant was closed so tried the Mayview. Good two course lunch, freshly cooked and flavorsome. Very friendly staff and reasonably priced. Would recommend and will return.

Went for supper in the buzzy bar. Good selection of dishes using local produce. The plates looked delicious but all lacked flavour. The veggies were fresh and well cooked but didn't taste of much. Ditto the sole mornay which didn't taste of cheese! Think the chef needs to taste his dishes to check the seasoning before he serves them.

The Mayview is a good value boozer with food and rooms. The bar is warm and welcoming with a super beer garden out back. Food is served in the lounge or the hotel's own dining room (which is swisher than you might expect) and is always good. The chef has a light touch around a crustacean - his lobster was... More
